Who's responsibility is it if wages don't appear in your bank account after your employer has paid you?
My sister is an agency nurse and gets paid by her employment agency via BACS straight into her bank account. Now the agency isn't the most efficient in the worls, failing to pay its staff on time on several occasions but todays c**k up takes the biscuit. The agency are insisting that the wages have gone out of their bank account as usual however several of the nurses including my sister, who all bank with Barclays have discovered that the payment never reached their accounts. Where does the responsibility lie when it comes to finding out what went wrong and rectifiying this? I assume that the agency and Barclays will have records of transactions trackable via the BACS numbers but both the agency and Barclays are claiming it is not their responsibility to look into the problem. Does anyone have any advice as the what my sister can do and who has to find out what is going on? - lovenhate -
