No spend weekend! – does anyone else want to give it a go?

I’ve been spending far too much at weekends recently. I must have spent £200 last weekend and I have nothing to show for it. So I’ve decided that I’m not going to spend a single penny until Monday!

Does anyone else want to join in this challenge with me? I know it would be difficult for people with kids and other responsibilities.

I will let you know how i get on.

I have minimum spend months when the old bank account/credit card bill relationship is lookin a bit lopsided but if I had a no spend weekend I'd just spend a lot on Friday to consume over the weekend.

I like the challenge! Whilst it might be difficult to not spend a penny (bday party) I'll definitely try to seriously minimise costs. No trash mags or Starbucks coffee etc.

I'll join the challenge! Have already agreed to a couple of meals out but will take on the challenge outside of them :)

bellini - I think he uses Bold so softener built in - he watches those pennies - especially when they are going round and round in the washing machine when he's left them in his trouser pocket.

CF - Well that's certainly very sensible, I'd expect nothing less. Bold it is.

dsl8 - That sounds like a good start to the weekend!

Wishing everyone a successful non-spending weekend!

    How did everyone get on?

I went to my old hockey club to watch the Scotland game and someone bought me a pint, so I had to buy them one back (plus one for myself). So I spent £4.70 all weekend.

Mike - I would have come, I was waiting for my invite, but it never came

    House party -£10

Shoes (Primark, so at least I tried) £17

    Food & wine - £20

Not exactly a success, but not too bad either!

    FAIL.

Friday night - dinner (£15) followed by unexpected night out (£105)

    Sat - food shopping (£25)

Sun - lunch (£15) tea and cake (£6)

But I consoled myself with the fact that the ratio of fun vs the cost was pretty good so not too worried.

    Must try harder.

I hope that you didn't need to buy the building material as a result of your party ;)

Luckily no..... but the standard of 'dancing' certainly put a lot of valuable items at risk- (the TV ad with the plasma screen falling off the wall comes to mind)

Will try this for this coming weekend! Going to a housewarming party so does buying a bottle in advance count as spend at the weekend?

I'd love to start a no supermarket spend weekend just to let the supermarkets know that they rely on us to keep them busy.
