Top 20 toys for Christmas 2012

Christmas is creeping up on us. That’s why Toys R Us has published its list of the 20 toys it reckons will be the most likely to pop up on lists to Santa. Let’s take a look at which toys made the list, and where you can get them cheapest.

Basically an educational iPad for children aged between three and nine, the LeapPad 2 comes with a range of games and activities to help your children learn. This version has a better battery life, more memory and a faster processor than the original.

Here we go! Being bombarded with 'must have' toys for Christmas. Things that children will die for if they don't get but will probably be in the bin by the end of January. I HATE all this hype & sheer commercialism of what is supposed to be a Christian festival/holiday but has been turned into a yearly spend-feast.

If Toys R Us think these will be the most wanted toys, I can only assume they will represent the toys with the most profit for Toys R Us. Or am I getting too cynical?

I've three children and a step-child brought up with none of this 'must have' toy or gadget attitude and I've never experienced or would tolerate shop tantrums. It's about time ALL toy advertising outside of the retailers themselves was banned. I'm not religious, but Christmas has become a travesty which reveals how really spineless the churches are when it comes to fighting consumerism - but then they are spinless when it comes to child abuse issues, so it's about what we would expect.

We have two daughters who became teenagers this year and are understandably getting more and more into styling and make-up.

I kinda' guess where this will be heading, as December approaches....

Just because the Winter Solstice has been hijacked by christmas commercially speaking doesn't mean its a religious holiday for everyone. For most people I know its a time to wind down from a year of hard slogging and to enjoy some of that hard earned cash. If part of that includes treating their offspring with plastic and cardboard molded into interesting shapes then that's their business. Good food, good wine and good company. The first of those two are well worth paying for ;) Happy Brumalia!
