Orange announces landline telephone price rises

Orange has announced a number of price rises for its landline telephone customers.

The changes come into effect on the 19th September and affect calls to numbers including Directory Enquiries and premium numbers.

You can get a full list of the changes in this PDF from Orange. I’ve highlighted some of the main changes below:

Call connection fee

The fee payable on most calls which are not included as part of your broadband and calls plan is rising from 12p per call to 12.5p per call.

Directory Enquiries

Calls made to numbers beginning 118. These are subject to some sharp increases:

International calls

Prices vary depending on which zone you are calling, but increases are of between 1p and 6p per minute.

Calls to 08 numbers

Depends on the full number. As an example, calls made to 08440544020 currently cost 4.5p per minute during the day and 1p per minute in the evening and at weekends. From 19th September this will jump to 6.5p per minute at all times on Orange.

Calls to 09 numbers

Depends on the full number. As an example, calls to numbers beginning 0983636 currently cost £1.80 per call plus £1.80 per minute. This will rise to £2.69 per call plus £2.69 per minute with Orange.

Orange becoming a Lemon, it seems. Part of France Telecom, how would anyone expect otherwise?

What a rip off!!!! Wont be long before we'll be using jungle drums!!!

As Pooh Bah I'm with Virgin and I'm expecting hikes similar to BT. I signed up with 1899 a few years ago to take advantage of cheaper day time calls. I have Evenings and Weekend package but dont make enough daytime calls to justify their Anytime package My Mob is with T-Mobile/Orange think I'll be looking elsewhere if they are going to up the prices in line with the landline!!
