How-to Guides » OLD GUIDE Make money from the stock market

Taking the plunge into the stock market isn't for the faint-hearted, but investing can help you achieve your financial goals.

Remember it's a long-term game

How-to Guide Tips 2 tips on this task  |

There are no guarantees with investing in the stock market, but long term rather than short term investments are likely to be more successful.

If you invest for the long-term, you’re more likely to do well. Share prices can be very volatile, so if you buy with the intention of selling six months later, you could get caught out even if the shares were genuinely cheap when you bought.

If you invest for five years or longer your performance will probably be better. But there are no guarantees - investing in the stock market is always risky, whatever your time horizon.

Good luck!
