Everyone loves something for free and why not do the same on your computer, almost everywhere now trys to sell you Anti-Virus programs and Firewalls. Try these instead.

AVG Free Edtion (Anti-Virus Software)

ZoneAlarm (Firewall Software)

Like to game then download a copy of Steam, once installed you can buy games but if you type into the search bar "Alien Swarm", you can download the full game for free. A 4 player online shooting game for free. Other free software listed below.

Notepad++ (Helpful programming environment)

GIMP (A graphics program like Adobe Photoshop)

Spotify (20 Hours of FREE music a month)

Audacity (An audio editor)

VLC Player (A Video and Music player that can play almost anything!)

Open Office (A FREE version of Microsoft Office)

    Paint.NET is a good one. Quite lightweight and great for most things that don't require photoshop.

    Winamp - http://www.winamp.com/ does a very good free media player and if you have an Android phone, just install their Android version of the player to enable the built-in wireless synching and music transfers via wireless (no more hunting for the damn USB cable)
