Top iPhone apps that save you money

My favourite iPhone app is voucher cloud. It’s pretty simple: you put in your location, and it tells you where there’s a nearby voucher you can use to get a discount.

I also love saynoto0870.com’s app for the iPhone, which lets you check for alternative number to call instead of 0870/0845/0800 (which isn’t free from a mobile).

Other cool apps I’ve heard about (but haven’t used myself, because I don’t drive) are to do with cars. For example, petrolprices.com tells us which petrol station nearby is selling the cheapest petrol, noseyparkerapp.com helps you find nearby free parking zones, and More Than offers a ‘Car claim’ tool that tells which information you need to record in the event of an accident where you need to make a claim on your insurance.

Those are my top picks – what are yours?

This Local sale finder app helps you find discounts in your area - similar to voucher cloud I guess.

If you have a Taste London card there's an app for that. (I can't believe I just said that...)

I like RedLaser. It lets you scan in any product's barcode using your iPhone camera, then instantly tells you what that product it is with a selection of best prices on the net, with links. It's also quite fun if not a little nerdy to do it just for the pure sake of it while shopping, although you do get a few odd looks.

I like this cocktail recipe app - never again wonder what on earth to put (or rather not put) in your long island iced tea.

The HotUKDeals app I think is a great one, not having to navigate the browser makes it much easier & quicker to get in to and some great deals as well

This app is great for finding best prices and deals, 'real time', on products on the net. It saves time, not having to do lengthy searches, and of course money by finding the cheapest source. www.myshoppinggenie.com/geniesavesmoney

Can be used on computers, and apparently a version for the Iphone and Mac is imminent.

For those of you who are thinking of learning a new langugage, there are loads of good free langugage apps out there. Way more interactive than a book with accompanying CD!

So far got about 8 free apps and learning new words every day: at no expense!

There is an app that can save you around £400 called Don'tBuyAnIphone! (Sarcasm). It had to be said, if you were trying to save money then buying an iPhone isn't the way to do it.
