<![CDATA[Is there body of insurance agents which operates an ethical code of conduct? ]]> I am an expatriate who has worked abroad for nearly 30 years. My youngest daughter is buying a home in the UK and the house agent is trying to sell her what sounds like Payment Protection Insudrance as well as life insurance. I have warned my daughter that the agent is selling insurance that is probably in the agent's best intrerest, not my daughter's.

Is there some kind body of insurance agents which operates an ethical code of conduct that I could refer my daughter to? Since I have been out of the UK for many years I am out of touch with developments in the insurance field, and do not have personal contacts who could suggest a trustworthy insurance agent

<![CDATA[Should Life Companies not being doing more to inform clients about Gender Directive]]> With G-Day coming up on the 21st of December 2012 should the Life Companies not be informing their clients of the potential increase in their policy when the law dictates that gender can not be used as a pricing factor for insurance (life/critical illness)

Clients with existing reviewable policies can expect a hike in their premiums at the end of the year, should the insurer not make them aware in time for them to obtain guaranteed premiums to protect against this increase?

Its almost like the banks all knowing a rate increase is imminent and then increasing their fixed rates on offer.

<![CDATA[I took out a life insurance on my ex husband in 1988 I have always paid it there is no surrender value. He has married again who will be able to claim]]> <![CDATA[my partner passed away suddlenly last year, she had life insurance which was paid out to me,her family want to know who to ,can they find out who?]]> <![CDATA[Life insurance policy with no nomination, who is it paid to]]> My boyfriends brother recently passed away unexpectedly and we knew that there was a life insurance policy and a pension. He was unmarried and my boyfriend expected something to pass to him. We discovered that he had written a will in 2004 leaving his estate to his then girlfriend, who split from within a year of the will being written.

My boyfriend contacted the relevent pension provider informing them of his brothers death and we discovered that his life insurance policy was blank, he hadn't nominated anyone. We have found out this week that the life insurance is being paid out to the benefactor of the will. His own brother, his closet next of kin, gets nothing. Is this correct? We were under the impression that pension companies had their own power of descression to decide if they should pay out and to who.
