How to set up a free wedding website
One of the best ways to save money on invitation printing costs is to set up a wedding website.
Welcome to my new blog! If you're registered on lovemoney.com, you can add this blog to your watchlist and find new posts as soon as they are published, via your personal homepage.
One of the best ways to save money on invitation printing costs is to set up a wedding website.
You don't have to do what I did and send your invitation by email (although I think this is by far the most frugal option, as I explained in my last post). You could send the invites by post and save money on inserts by asking people to go to your website to find out details about the big day or RSVP.
Believe it or not, you don’t have to be at all tech-savvy to set up your own site. You don’t need to know any computer code, or anything about design, or indeed anything about websites.
Instead, you can just use one of the many websites out there offering pre-designed online templates, with cool wedding domain names like 2haveand2hold.com or gettingmarried.co.uk.
All you have to do is create an account and fill in the templates with your details and your photos, and in the click of a button, you’ll have your own wedding website, with your own specific URL! For example, mine was neilanddonna.gettingmarried.co.uk – but it’s password protected, so only my guests can view details of the wedding, rather than just anyone on the web.
Most enable you to ask your guests to RSVP online, so you can don’t have to worry about keeping and counting lots of bits of paper or chasing them to post their replies. They can do it all over the internet!
And the best bit is, all these websites are totally free to set up and use. So it’s a must for the frugal bride!
Which wedding website should I go for?
The two sites I like the best are Weddingpath.co.uk and Gettingmarried.co.uk, with. Both are password protected, so only your guests will be able to view the details of your big day. Both offer photo galleries, and allow your guests to RSVP online. Both are extremely easy it is to set up. Everything is pre-designed for you and you just choose the design and colours you want, and fill in the text.
There are lots of other sites out there, however, if you don’t like the look of either of those. Here are just a few I found:
So there you have it – totally frugal!
If you have do decide to use one of these sites, come back and let me know how you got on. I’d be interested to know which one is the best...
