Pick up your foreign currency for less
If you’re preparing for your holiday, find out how you can get your hands on some great foreign exchange rates with my Travel Cash…
If you’re soon to be jetting off on holiday, you might be contemplating where to pick up your foreign currency. And as I explained in The biggest foreign currency ripoffs, getting a good deal on foreign currency can be a tad tricky.
However, one option is to take out a prepaid currency card, as these nifty pieces of plastic often allow you to side-step foreign transaction fees and ATM withdrawal fees when you're abroad - unlike most standard debit and credit cards.
So if you are thinking about taking out a prepaid currency card, the good news is, my Travel Cash will be holding an end of summer sale this Thursday (14 October) from 11am until 4pm. In this sale, you'll be able to get your hands on some top foreign exchange rates on Euros and US dollars.
The sale is exclusive to My Travel Cash prepaid Euro and US Dollar currency cards and you’ll be able to take advantage of it if you’re a new customer or if you simply want to top up your existing my Travel Cash card.
my Travel Cash Euro and Dollar cards offer better exchange rates than you’ll find at the airport or on the high street. In fact, my Travel Cash reckons customers save up to £40 for every £500 of currency purchased, compared to buying currency at the airport. And in its sale, these savings will be even greater.
What's more, these cards won’t charge you a foreign transaction fee when you spend on them abroad (most debit and credit cards charge around 2.75%). That said, you will need to pay a fee of €1.25 or $1.50 if you use your cards to withdraw money at the ATM while on holiday. However, this is still better than many debit and credit cards which charge an ATM fee plus a foreign exchange fee.
You can find out more about prepaid currency cards in The best cards for spending abroad.
So if you fancy getting a better deal on your foreign currency, check out the my Travel Cash sale this Thursday.
Just remember, it's always worth comparing rates to ensure you're getting the best deal possible, as well as reading the terms and conditions carefully, before signing on the dotted line.
