Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We’ve got new and extended restaurant deals from All Bar One and STRADA, as well as a new ‘Dine In’ offer from Marks & Spencer. We also have 50% off wine, half price Ben & Jerry’s, 2 for 1 on Monster Munch, 25% off Champagne, a free J2O drink, a free breakfast, and a guide to making the most of canned food!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal Food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.

Best supermarket deals

This week, I’m going to start with latest ‘Dine In’ offer from Marks & Spencer. You can currently pick up main courses, sides and desserts for two - plus a bottle of wine - for £10.

The offer runs in-store from now until 31st August, and you can view the full menu here.

Over at Tesco, top deals include a two-pack of sweetcorn for 80p (usual price £1.99). You can also still get 500ml pots of Ben & Jerry’s for £1.99 each (down from £3.99); and there’s a 2 for 1 deal on a wide range of McVitie’s Go Ahead bars.

At ASDA, 400g packs of Cathedral City Mature Cheddar have been reduced from £3.88 to just £2 each.

And there’s a great better-than-half-price deal on Muller yoghurts: Six-packs of Muller Fruit Corners are usually £2.88 each - but you can now get two packs for £2.

Also at ASDA, a range of Goodfella’s thin pizzas have been reduced from £2 to £1 each.

Good Sainsbury’s offers include a range of Butcher’s Choice sausages, currently down from £1.99 to 99p per pack. There are also 2 for 1 deals on all sorts of crisp multi-packs, including Walkers Classics, Doritos and Monster Munch.

At Morrisons, you can currently pick four pints of fresh, 1% fat milk for just 50p (usual price £1.53).

600g loaves of Rathbones bread are also reduced, down from £1.20 to 50p; and the Morrisons £1.99 Ben & Jerry’s deal is still going strong.

Offers at The Co-op include the £2.04 Ben & Jerry’s deal, nine-packs of Penguin Bars reduced from £1.50 to 75p each, and six-packs of Muller Fruit or Crunch Corners down from £2.99 to £1.49.

Over at LIDL, you can now pick up 18-packs of Hula Hoops, Skips and Nik Naks for just £1.49 each. You can also get three Wall’s Magnums and 80 Typhoo tea bags for £1 each.

Finally, NETTO deals include 975g tins of Cadbury’s Roses for £4.79, and six-packs of Muller Fruit Corners for just £1.25 each.

Tipple

There’s currently a big sale on at Tesco Wine, within 50% off many cases.

And at Marks & Spencer, there’s now 25% off a wide range of Champagne and sparkling wine.

You can now pick up a free J2O drink at Toby Carvery with your evening meal, as long as you’re each paying £7.50 or more. Just print off this voucher and present it on arrival.

The voucher is valid Monday to Saturday after 7pm, until 25th September. Just be aware it can’t be used on bank holiday Monday (30th August).

There are still lots of other free drinks available at the moment, if you know where to look.

First, you can collect one of four different drinks when you become a friend of your favourite Vintage Inn and buy any main meal before 31st August. You can see the four drinks on offer - along with all the terms and conditions - right here.

You can also get a free Pimm’s at Miller and Carter steakhouse bar and grill when you sign up, print the voucher and bring it in before 5th September. Again, you need to buy a main meal to qualify.

You can bag a free drink at your nearest Pitcher & Piano when you register here and print the voucher. The offer is valid until 31st August, on certain drinks only (the details of which you’ll find on the voucher).

And finally, get a free bottle of WKD when you buy another at a Yate’s pub. Just sign up here, and present the voucher at your local branch.

You’ll then be entitled to claim a ‘Parisian’ breakfast completely for free. This includes either a pan au chocolate or a croissant, plus a large coffee, and would usually set you back around £3.

Voucher codes

You can still get money off at Gondola Wines when you spend £70 or more and enter the code WINE20 at the check-out.

This discount code is now valid until 7th September. And fortunately, it’s even valid on wines already in the big Gondola sale.

Voucher code promotions tend to be withdrawn quickly. If you’ve missed out on this one, you can use the following websites to track down new voucher codes as and when they come up:

And finally... frugal food ‘can’ be healthy!

One way to eat healthily for less is to buy canned and frozen food. Nowadays fruit and vegetables preserved in this way can be just as nutritious as their fresh counterparts

I recently came across the Canned Food website, and found some interesting frugal recipes explaining how to use it.

You’ll find a range of easy starters, main courses and desserts right here. Yum!

Every Friday, we round up the week's top food shopping bargains, supermarket vouchers and restaurant offers. If you register on lovemoney.com, you can follow this blog and find new posts as soon as they are published, via your personal homepage. Never miss a frugal food bargain again - register now.

When you go out bargain hunting, zero the the thing that counts miles on your speedometer first in the car before you set out. In traffic you're lucky to get 6 miles for £1 in fuel. If you go to Tesco, Asda and shop around, check your miles when you get back and take into account the fuel cost. I don't go to Tesco, it would add over a £1 to the bill. Morrison's and Asda are within a mile. It cost about 30p to go to either - not both. Choose you parking carefully, I can park with 100 yards of Morrison's and walk through an open air market to get there where they have lots of fresh veg and bargains. It also has a Royal charter not that that affects prices... But you can go to a lot of other bargain shops near the market like Poundland and the birthday cards in the shop opposite Poundland I am told are good at 4 for £1. Shop local and know where the bargains are, drive out of town and you waste fuel.

Just trying to find out if anyone else has used resourcefulcook.com to save money? Have posted a question in the food section but less that one page of questions and none have been answered (at least not seriously). Seems a good way to save money, as long as it is accurate. Two nights into a week long meal plan seems to work well, but just wondered if anyone else has used it and how they got on?
