Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We’ve got new and extended restaurant deals from Prezzo, Dim T, Café Rouge, Pizza Hut and YO! Sushi. We also have half-price Ben & Jerry’s, 2 for 1 on Carte D’or, half-price chocolate treats, a free bottle of wine, free tea and coffee samples, two new voucher codes, and the chance to experience celebrity chefs’ cuisine on a budget!

Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal Food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.

Best supermarket deals 

This week, I’m going to start with the best deals at Tesco. 225g of blueberries are down from £3.99 to £1.50. You can now get 20 organic plums for £1.25, reduced from £2.99; and packs of three mixed peppers are 80p, down from £1.64.

There’s a 2 for 1 deal on Pilgrims Choice Cheddar; and a great half-price offer on all varieties of Ben & Jerry’s, which means 500ml tubs are just £1.99 each.

Finally, there’s a better-than-half-price deal on 1l bottles of This Water Lemons & Limes, making each bottle £1.

Over at Sainsbury’s, there are 2 for 1 deals on melons and pineapples. And there’s a 2 for 1 deal on all varieties of Carte D’Or ice cream, which means you can get 1800ml of the cold stuff for £2.99.

Also at Sainsbury’s, a range of Heinz mayonnaise is still half-price.

ASDA top deals include 750ml bottles of Napolina extra virgin olive oil, reduced from £5.08 to £2.54.

A range of Homepride cooking sauces are also half-price. And if you’re planning a night in with a good film, grab your chocolate treats here: Bags of Minstrels, M&Ms, Maltesers and Mars Planets and others are half-price.

Finally, Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire tea bags (160) are down from £3.98 per box, to two boxes for £3.

At Morrisons, there’s a still a 2 for 1 deal on a range of own-brand Italian meals.

Morrisons Red Label tea bags (160) are half-price at £1.12. And you can pick up 500ml tubs of Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream for £1.99, down from £3.99.

Over at The Co-op there’s another good deal on Ben & Jerry’s - 500ml tubs are currently £2.04 each. And fresh blueberries, strawberries and raspberries are all half their usual price.

LIDL offers include 500g of white grapes for 69p, 1kg of nectarines for £1, 200g jars of Nescafe Original for £4 each, and 2l bottles of Pepsi and 7UP for £1 each.

At NETTO you can pick up 440 Typhoo teabags for £4, and bag nine-packs of both Kit Kats and Time Out bars for just £1.

And finally at ALDI, you can currently get six tomatoes, single avocados, two-packs of little gem lettuces and 125g of spring onions - all for 39p each.

Tipple

At ASDA, you can now pick up six 300ml bottles of Budweiser for £4 (down from £6.63) and 1l bottles of Martini Extra Dry for £6 (down from £9.41).

You can get a free bottle of wine when four of you dine at Chef & Brewer and use this voucher.

The offer applies to four types of wine (Nobilo Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, D’Vine Inzolia, D’Vine Cabernet Sauvignon and D’Vine Merlot Rosé) and is valid until 31st August.

You’ll need to order four adult main courses, and use the voucher Monday-Thursday, not including the bank holiday.

There are still lots of free drinks available at the moment, if you know where to look.

First, you can collect one of four different drinks when you become a friend of your favourite Vintage Inn and buy any main meal before 31st August. You can see the four drinks on offer - along with all the terms and conditions - right here.

You can also get a free Pimm’s at Miller and Carter steakhouse bar and grill when you sign up, print the voucher and bring it in before 5th September. Again, you need to buy a main meal to qualify.

You can bag a free drink at your nearest Pitcher & Piano when you register here and print the voucher. The offer is valid until 31st August, on certain drinks only (the details of which you’ll find on the voucher).

And finally, get a free bottle of WKD when you buy another at a Yate’s pub. Just sign up here, and present the voucher at your local branch.

Cut price snacks

Sign up to the Café Direct newsletter and you’ll periodically be sent Café Direct goodies – such as coffee and tea samples - in the post.

Just remember to give a spam-specific email address if you don’t want promotional stuff sent to your main one.

You can now pick up a free Coke glass when you buy a Large Meal or Premium Salad at McDonald’s. You can check out the details - and the limited edition ‘Summer Splash’ glasses - right here. They come in six colours, and are available until 30th August.

Voucher codes

In this Frugal food blog post, I told you about Approved Food, an online store that specialises in selling short-dated or out-of-date 'best before' dry and tinned food products at bargain basement prices. 

You can now get 10% off your bill at Approved Food when you enter the code BIRTHDAY2 at the checkout. You’d better be quick though, as the code is only valid until 22nd August.

And you can currently get £15 off your first online grocery shop at Sainsbury’s when you enter the code J5HH-JQDD-J3VJ at the checkout.

You need to spend at least £75 for the code to work, and you’ll need to choose a delivery time before you enter the code. This offer also expires on 22nd August.
