Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal Food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.
Best supermarket deals
This week, I’m going to start with the best deals on offer at Sainsbury’s. This big hot chocolate fudge cake is still down from £6 to £3. Yum!
There are 2 for 1 deals on Cathedral City mature cheddar and Muller Fruit Corner six-packs; and this Coeur de Lion camembert is 99p, reduced from £1.98.
Also at Sainsbury’s, you can still get two tubs of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream or frozen yoghurt for £3.99. And finally, this Kit Kat Chunky Bar Bumper pack - containing nine x 90g bars - is down from £2.24 to just £1.
Over at Tesco, four Finest beef burgers now cost £1.50, instead of the usual £3. One variety of Ben & Jerry’s (Chocolate Fudge Brownie) has been reduced from £3.99 to £2; and you can still pick up this 36-pack of Jaffa Cakes for half the normal price.
Finally, Pringles are still less than half price, at 95p per tube.
Top deals at ASDA include better-than-half-price offers on Doritos (down from £1.48 to 50p a bag) and Walkers Sensations (down from £1.58 to 50p a bag).
You can also get this 100g jar of Nescafe Café Parisien coffee for just £1.50, reduced from £3.25.
At Morrisons, you can currently save one-third on a range of barbecue goodies, including grillsteaks, beef burgers and pork sausages.
There are also decent 2 for 1 Morrisons deals on McCoys crisp multi-packs, eight-packs of Pepsi and 200g jars of Kenco Rappor coffee.
Over at LIDL there are some great fruit and veg deals, including 250g of fresh spinach for 50p and Piel De Sapo melons for £1 each.
And finally, NETTO offers include 21 bags of Walkers crisps for just £2.
Tipple
Marks & Spencer has launched its online summer wine sale, with at least 20% off Champagne and sparkling wine, and up to 30% off red and white wine.
And at Sainsbury’s, you can still take advantage of various two packs for £15 deals. Carling, Carlsberg, Fosters, Kronenberg 1664 and Strongbow are all included.

Cut price snacks
Here’s the latest bizarre initiative from Giraffe: Turn up at a Giraffe restaurant between 8am and 9am on 12th July, and you can claim a free Brekkie Bap to eat in.
You can choose any two fillings for your bap - including fried or scrambled egg, bacon, Cumberland sausage, veggie sausage, grilled tomato or mushroom. It comes served with potato wedges.
And the catch? You’ll only get a free bap if you’re wearing your DRESSING GOWN. Eek!
Remember, this nutty scheme runs 8-9am on 12th July only. And the offer is not running at airport restaurants or at Giraffe Portsmouth Gunwharf Quays.
You can treat yourself on the cheap at Millie’s Cookies when you sign up to join the club here. You’ll be able to print off a voucher booklet worth £15 with offers including buy six cookies get six free, buy one get one free on treatboxes and two free cookies with any ice cream. The vouchers are valid until 31st October.
And you can still get a free cup of coffee at Giraffe just for turning up! Pop in to your nearest Giraffe on a Wednesday before 10.30am, and claim your free Americano, latte, cappuccino or herbal tea. This offer now runs until 29th September. Just remember that it’s only valid on classic-size, takeaway drinks, and is not valid at restaurants in airports.
Voucher codes
An ongoing newspaper voucher deal means you can get £5 off a £40 shop at Morrisons, for three weeks in a row.
Buy the Sun on the 9th or 10th of July - or the News of the World on the 11th July - and you’ll find a £5 Morrisons voucher inside.
Each voucher can only be used during a set period of time - have a look at this page of the Morrisons website for more details. And remember, a £40 minimum spend is required.
New customers can also get £15 off their first online shop at Sainsbury’s (plus 50p cashback) when they go via Quidco and enter the code BNK7-ZNN8-KJPS at the checkout.
Just bear in mind that you’ll need to spend at least £75 to make this saving, and the code is only valid until 12th July. You can find out more about the offer here.
