Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. With Wimbledon in full swing the supermarkets are slashing the price of fresh berries and cream so keep an eye out for those. And with a hopefully sunny weekend on the cards, make the most of all the picnic and BBQ bargains below!
Best supermarket deals
The supermarkets have gone Wimbledon crazy this week, so make the most of offers such as free cream with your strawberries at Tesco and half-price strawberries, raspberries and blackberries at Sainsbury’s - all until Tuesday 29 June (and, if you want to team it with some ice-cream, you can save 50% on all Haagen Dazs too!).
For quick snacks, Tesco is offering 2 for £1.50 on Ainsley Harriott packet soups (choose from flavours such as wild mushroom, chicken and lemongrass and French onion) and any 3 for £1.50 on Batchelor’s savoury rice.
If you’re planning a Sunday roast, Sainsbury’s is offering British beef roasting joint (approx 2kg) has been reduced from £17.98 to just £8.98 until 29 June and if you fancy a treat, its Taste the Difference Rump Steak (583g) has been reduced by £2 to £6.
Head to ASDA for top deals on picnic food. You can buy a host of salad pots, tomato pots and fruit pots all at 2 for £3. There are lots of great offers at Morrisons too, including half-price chips and dips, BBQ meal deals with a four-pack of burgers and chicken pieces for £1 each, plus 8 sausages, 12 bread rolls and creamy coleslaw for 50p each.
Get your daily fruit and veg allowance on the cheap at ALDI where you can buy the big 6 – large vine tomatoes, mixed peppers, cherries, new potatoes, peaches or nectarines and melon – all for 69p each!
At the Co-op, the latest deals include any 5 for £10 on party food such as cheese and bacon potato skins, hot and spicy chicken wings, lamb samosas and mixed olives. You can also get a free Co-operative Stonebaked Margherita Pizza when you buy Stella Artois Bottles for £5 (6x284ml).
Finally for something sweet, at M&S you can buy selected ice-cream and desserts at 2 for £4 and buy one get one free on jam sandwich creams!
Tipple
Save yourself 25% on all wine and champagne at Tesco when you buy six bottles or more and if champers is more to your liking, you can save 1/3 on top quality wine & champagne including £17.99 on Etienne Dumont Champagne.
At Netto it’s just £10 for 20 Carlsberg 440ml cans and you can buy a 3 litre box of Lindemans New Frontiers Cabernet Sauvignon Petit Verdot or 70cl of Bell's Scotch Whisky for £10.99 each.
Beer lovers can also check out the two packs for £15 deals (15x440ml cans) at Sainsbury’s on beers including Carlsberg, Fosters, Kronenberg 1664 and Strongbow. Or, why not buy six bottles of selected single beer for the price of five and get £2 off wines of the month at M&S.

For something a bit sweeter, you can treat yourself on the cheap at Millie’s Cookies when you sign up to join the club here.
