There's also half-price deals on fruit, Terry's chocolate orange for £1, Haagen Dazs tubs for £2, a chocolate hamper for £35, and £15 off at Ocado. We also say which big supermarket offers the best wine deals and share some new voucher codes, and it's 4 for 3 at Taste of London.

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. I'm standing in for our regular bloggers this week and for my premiere I've done a lot of digging for deals. In the tradition of this blog, I'll start with the best grocery offers around.
Best supermarket deals
Tesco has more half-price deals for fruit this week; for example: 400g of apricots cost £1.70, 225g of blueberries cost £2, and 250g of cherries are also £2. You can also get 500g of Jersey Royal potatoes at half price for £1.
There are at least a handful of half-price fish deals too: eight Alaskan salmon fillets – that's 600g – for £4.50; 250g of raw king prawns cost just £2.50, and extra large fish fillets, 330g, are £2.
Terry's Chocolate Orange is still £1 instead of £2.
It's all gone a bit Fray Bentos at Asda, with a range of pies at a few pence short of half-price, costing £1 each.
Sainsbury's is offering one-third to one-half off some fruits and vegetables; examples of half-price deals include: four nectarines or four peaches for £1.70; 300g of strawberries (organic if that helps) cost £2; 500g of British peas are £1.50 and 1kg of Taste the Difference potatoes cost £1.
Various cheddar cheeses are half-price too, such as Mull of Kintyre extra mature cheddar costing £2.50.
To continue with the half-price theme as we wander into the meat department, we have a 2kg joint of beef for £9, a 2.4kg Taste the Difference duck for £8.40 and a 3kg boneless gammon joint for £12.
500ml tubs of Haagen Dazs are still half price at £2 each.
Morrisons ends this entry's commendable long streak of half-price deals with an equally appetising £5 pizza meal deal: that's two 10” pizzas, salad and a 1.25 litre bottle of coke, available at most stores. Tiger bread, baked fresh in-store, has one third off, so an 800g loaf costs 65p.
Tropicana is almost half price at £1 per bottle. Other fruity half-price deals include pineapples for £1, four peaches for £1 and 400g of strawberries for £2.
Aldi's Super 6 fruit deal is little changed on last week, as each of these cost just 39p: three lemons, a cucumber, six tomatoes, cabbages, two lettuces and 250g of radishes.
Netto – soon to be ASDA – has tins of tuna for just 45p and Marks & Spencer is offering 3 for £10 on selected meat, fish and poultry.
There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.

Tipple
Sainsbury's still appears to have the best deals on popular beers, beating the others by some margin with 24 cans of Carlsberg for £10 - that's 42p each, according to mySupermarket. This is despite saying the deal would end on 12th June to get people to rush in. Naughty!
Meanwhile, I think Tesco is offering the best wine deals from the big four, with many of the relatively less mass-produced wines selling for 50% to 60% off. Also, Tesco is selling its champagne for £14 again. In recent years, Tesco's champagne won a best-tasting award despite the price.
Morrisons is still offering ‘three for £18’ on a range of beer; for example, you can get 36 bottles of Becks or 36 cans of Carling for £18.

Cut price snacks
I don't know if a huge hamper stuffed full of chocolate counts as a snack, but Thornton's is currently offering a big chocolate hamper for £35. It says it's reduced from £50.
Was I the only one who missed till recently that Subway has a pretty new value snack range section, with such things as pepperoni cheese toasties and garden salads for 89p each?
You can still get a free cup of coffee at Giraffe just for turning up! Pop in to your nearest Giraffe on a Wednesday before 10.30am, and claim your free Americano, latte, cappuccino or herbal tea.
The offer is only valid on Wednesdays before 10.30am, and runs until 29th September. Just remember that it’s only valid on classic-size, takeaway drinks, and is not valid at restaurants in airports.
Voucher codes
The latest code for Ocado is again for new customers signing up and ordering on line to get £15 off on orders of £75 or more. The code is VOU9504302.
You can get £7.50 off a £50 online Tesco grocery shop with the voucher code XXNTHV. With luck, new customers can still get £10 your first grocery shop with the code XXAFFT.
