Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal Food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.

Best supermarket deals

This week, I’m going to start with the new ‘Dine In’ deal from Marks & Spencer. As usual, you get sides, mains and desserts for two - plus a bottle of wine - for £10.

The current offer runs from now until 1st June, and you can view the full menu here.

At ASDA, 907g bags of Aunt Bessie’s Crinkle Cut chips are reduced from £2.17 to just 97p; and 1l bottles of Filippo Berio Mild & Light olive oil are down from £5.79 to £3.

There are also better-than-half-price deals on several varieties of Heinz salad cream and Kraft salad dressing.

Over at Tesco, twin-packs of Cadbury’s Puddings (Hot Caramel and Hot Chocolate) are half-price at £1. And individual iceberg lettuces have been reduced from 97p to 40p each.

A range of Muller Fruit Corner six-packs are down from £2.90 to £1.50 each; and you can now get four Finest Tesco beef burgers for £1.50 (usual price £3).

Finally, four tins of Heinz chopped tomatoes usually cost £3.78 at Tesco. However, you can currently pick up eight tins for just £3.

Sainsbury’s top offers include 2 for 1 deals on bagels, McVitie’s cakes and Mr Kipling jam tarts.

Boursin cheese is down from £1.91 to £1 per pack; and there’s still a 2 for 1 deal on several varieties of Carte D’Or ice cream.

At Somerfield/The Co-op, beef frying steak is currently half price, at £5 per 700g pack. There’s also 50% off 2l bottles of Pepsi, down from £1.69 to 84p.

Over at Morrisons, all varieties of Goodfella’s pizza (140g) are reduced from £2.49 to £1.24, and a range of Italian ready meals are down from £1.99 to 99p.

LIDL deals include whole Galia melons, 150g blueberries, 1kg courgettes and 1kg vine tomatoes - all for 99p each.

As part of its latest Super 6 promotion, ALDI is currently selling whole avocados, three-packs of garlic, 125g spring onions, 500g beetroot, 250g cherry tomatoes and 500g new potatoes - all for just 39p each.

And finally, NETTO offers include tubes of Pringles for 79p (down from £2), 440 Typhoo teabags for £4, and 500ml tubs of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream (Cookie Dough or Phish Food) for just £2 each.

There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.

If you’ve come across a great food deal at your local market, please do leave a comment at the bottom of the article letting us know. That way, fellow readers in your local area can take advantage of the offer you’ve flagged up. Thanks!

Tipple

You can currently grab a free drink when you register on this page of the Young’s brewery website and print the voucher.

Drinks on offer include a pint of Young’s Bitter, a 500ml bottle of Savannah Cider, a small glass of house wine or a soft drink. The deal runs until 12th June, and vouchers can be redeemed at Young’s pubs showing World Cup matches.

Tesco Wine is currently offering big discounts on many of its wines, including at least 33% off 75 varieties. Many wines on the website are priced at 50% off, so it’s definitely worth having a browse.

And Marks & Spencer is still offering 25% off all wines bought online (excluding Wine Club).

And finally… like discounts? Likebees!

This week, my final frugal food tip is for those living or working in the capital.

Likebees is a daily deals website which offers members the chance to get money off at restaurants, shops and various events in London. A different deal is featured every day - and you can take a look at some of the past deals here.

Here’s how it works: You subscribe to the site (for free), and are sent a daily email telling you about that day’s deal. You can choose to ‘buy’ that day’s money-off deal; but you’ll only get the deal - and pay - if a minimum number of buyers is reached by the time that deal ends.

If you can stand the suspense, it’s a great way to bag meals out, snacks and other treats at reduced prices. You can find out more about how the site works here.

Every Friday, we round up the week's top food shopping bargains, supermarket vouchers and restaurant offers. If you register on lovemoney.com, you can follow this blog and find new posts as soon as they are published, via your personal homepage. Never miss a frugal food bargain again - register now.

Every effort is made to source voucher codes which are valid at the time this article is published. However, please be aware that lovemoney.com cannot guarantee that every voucher will be valid or that it will not be withdrawn by the provider immediately.

This comment will only resonate with other vegetarians ... I notice that yet again, the M & S "Dine in for a tenner" deal discriminates against us ... out of a choice of ten main course dishes ... there is only one that is vegetarian ... and the price on the shelf of this item is far lower than that of the other choices ... (this is the usual state of things with these deals generally ... Sainsbury's cheap deals are similarly useless ... and with theirs, I often find that the one vegetarian dish is the one they have run out of ... )

    Come on M & S ... raise your game!

Less than 10% of people are vegetarian, why should there be more options for you? It's not discrimnation, it's a fair representation.
