Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal Food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.
Best supermarket deals
This week, I’m going to start with the best deals at Sainsbury’s. This hot fudge chocolate cake is down from £6 to £3; and red seedless grapes are also half-price, reduced from £2.50 to £1.25 per 500g.
There are 2 for 1 deals on these six-packs of Muller Light yoghurts, and on 1l tubs of Carte D’Or ice cream. You can pick up five Crunchie Bars for just £1, down from £1.88. And finally, several varieties of Kellogg’s cereal are currently half-price, including Fruit ‘n’ Fibre, Frosties and Bran Flakes.
At Tesco, fresh rhubarb, asparagus, rocket salad and British pork loin joints are all half-price. And there’s a better-than-half-price deal on several varieties of Heinz salad cream. 460g bottles are usually £2.06; but you can currently pick up two for £2.
Over at ASDA, there’s a great deal on Kellogg’s Frosties: 750g boxes usually cost £2.39, but you can now get them for just 97p each.
There’s also a better-than-half-price ASDA deal on cans of Tango Orange, with four-packs reduced from £2.50 to £1.
Morrisons is currently doing a special Indian Meal Deal for Two. It means you can choose a starter, two main courses, two side dishes and two bottles of beer for £8.
Other Morrisons offers include 400g jars of Hellmann’s mayonnaise for 83p (usual price £1.67) and twin packs of garlic baguettes for 54p (usual price £1.09).
At Somerfield/The Co-op, 100g jars of Kenco Rappor coffee are half-price, down from £2.32 to £1.16. You can also pick up nine Time Out bars (16g) for just £1.
Top LIDL deals include spring onions at 29p per bunch, avocados at 29p each, and 215g bags of Bassetts Jelly Babies and Maynards Wine Gums at 63p each.
And finally, NETTO offers include half-price fresh pork leg (now £2.94 per kilogram) and six cans of Fanta Orange, Fruit Twist or Lemon for just £1.49.
There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.

Marks & Spencer is currently offering 25% off all wines bought online (excluding Wine Club). Bottles are sold in cases of six or more.

Cut price snacks

You can also get a free sample of Redbush Tea when you register on the website.
And you can still get a free cup of coffee at Giraffe just for turning up! Pop in to your nearest Giraffe on a Wednesday before 10.30am, and claim your free Americano, latte, cappuccino or herbal tea.
The offer is only valid on Wednesdays before 10.30am, and runs until 16th June. Just remember that it’s only valid on classic-size, takeaway drinks, and is not valid at restaurants in airports.
Voucher codes
We have three new supermarket voucher codes this week.
First, get £10 off your first online grocery shop at Tesco when you enter the code XXAFFT at the checkout.
You’ll need to spend at least £50 to quality for the discount, and the code is valid on deliveries made before 30th September. It isn’t valid on certain items, including tobacco products, prescription medication and baby milk.
First time grocery shoppers at Sainsbury’s online will get £10 off when they enter the code LM3F-G2VK-QKVF at the checkout.
Again, you’ll need to spend at least £50 to get the discount. And just remember that this code can only be used for groceries delivered on or before 25th May.
Finally, you can get £10 off your Ocado bill when you use the code VOU9206024 at the checkout. Bear in mind you’ll need to book your delivery slot first, which has to be before 30th June.
