Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal Food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.
Best supermarket deals
This week, I’m going to start with the latest ‘Dine In’ deal from Marks & Spencer. As usual, you can get mains, sides and desserts for two - plus a bottle of wine - for £10.

As food prices continue to rise, here's some handy ways to keep your food bills under control.
Do this goalOver at Tesco, there is still this 2 for 1 deal on chocolate chip muffins, which means you get eight muffins for £1.29. 650g bags of white seedless grapes have been reduced to just £1.28; and for those who really do think beanz meanz Heinz, there’s a 2 for 1 deal on four-packs.
There are also 2 for 1 offers on Heinz salad cream and Heinz tomato ketchup. Finally, you can now pick up 750g boxes of Shreddies for only £1.21, down from £2.45.
At ASDA, there’s a half-price offer on Anchor butter: 500g packs now cost £1.14 each. And you can still get Goodfella’s Deep Margherita pizzas (410g) for 97p each, reduced from £1.52.
Sainsbury’s top deals include six-packs of Muller Fruit Corners, still down from £2.97 to £1.48. This beef roasting joint (2kg) is reduced from £17.98 to £11.98; and a range of Sainsbury’s own pizzas are half-price, down from £3.50 to £1.75.
Over at ALDI, Super 6 fruit and veg deals include 250g fine beans, whole pineapples, three-packs of courgettes and 2.5kg of baking potatoes, all for 59p each.
At LIDL, you can still pick up 500g packs of Pilgrims Choice extra mature cheddar for £2.99.
NETTO is currently selling sirloin steak for just £11.77 per kg.
And finally, Morrisons’ deals include fresh sea bass reduced from £3 to £2 each, 1l bottles of Ribena down from £2.77 to £1.25, and seven-packs of Hula Hoops for just 67p.
There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.

We compare some of the big food brands with supermarket own brands to see which tastes best!
At Tesco, you can now pick up 20 x 440ml cans of Stella Artois for just £12 (down from £19.10). 1l bottles of Bacardi are also on offer at Tesco, reduced from £20.99 to £15 each.
There are a couple of good beer deals at ASDA. 15 x 440ml cans of Beck’s Vier are now £10.98 (reduced from £16.54); and 20 x 440ml cans of Budweiser can be picked up for £10 (down from £15).
Finally, you can still grab a free 250ml can of Smirnoff Vodka and Cola when you register on the website and print off the voucher.
The voucher is valid until 31st May, and can be redeemed at participating retailers only. Remember that you’ll need to be over 18 to get this freebie.

Cut price snacks
This next offer should allow Londoners to save money on entire meals! Sign up at Crowdity and you should get a free TasteLondon card (usual price £17.50).
For three months, this card will give you up to 50% off at thousands of restaurants in London and the south east. You can find out more about how to use the card here. This deal won’t be around for long, so I suggest you grab it straight away.
You can still get a free cup of coffee at Giraffe just for turning up! Pop in to your nearest Giraffe on a Wednesday before 10.30am, and claim your free Americano, latte, cappuccino or herbal tea.
The offer is only valid on Wednesdays before 10.30am, and runs until 16th June. Just remember that it’s only valid on classic-size, takeaway drinks, and is not valid at restaurants in airports.
Voucher codes
This next tip comes from lovemoney.com reader frugalfemale - thank you!
You can currently get a free box of healthy snacks when you sign up with postal retailer Graze using the Feed Your Friends code 7L9NRCD.
Using this code, you should get your first box of goodies free (usually £2.99) then the second box for half-price. As usual, just make sure you read all the terms and conditions.
You can still maximise the benefit of one supermarket discount code by shopping via Quidco.
New online grocery shoppers at Tesco can get £10 off when they enter the code XXAFFT at the check-out.
You’ll also get a bumper £5 Quidco cashback for your first order. Again, the code is only valid on transactions over £50. It expires on 30th June, and you can find out more about it here.

And finally… cheaper petrol with your groceries
At the moment, you can get money off your petrol when you shop at Tesco or Sainsbury’s. Both supermarkets are currently running similar promotions: In a nutshell, you’ll get 5p off every litre of petrol you buy, as long as you spend at least £50 in-store.
You’ll be given the voucher with your receipt at the end of your grocery transaction. The Sainsbury’s deal ends on 18th May, whilst Tesco’s offer ends on 23rd May. Both retailers give you 14 days to redeem your voucher.
