This week we bring you new restaurant deals from Prezzo and Pizza Hut. We also have free Guinness, better-than-half-price Champagne, extended voucher deals at Greggs and Ocado and a cheap Easter activity to keep the kids amused!

Every Friday, we round up the week's top food shopping bargains, supermarket vouchers and restaurant offers. Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.

Best supermarket deals

This week, I’m going to start with a half-price deal in-store at Marks & Spencer: Over Easter, this topside beef joint is reduced from £12.99 per kg to £6.49 per kg.

At Tesco, offers include cauliflower reduced from £1.18 to 50p and six-packs of Muller Fruit Corners down from £2.90 to £1.50.

On the meat counter, fresh pork leg joints and whole Gressingham ducks are both half-price; and if you’re looking for an Easter treat that isn’t an egg, Terry’s Milk Chocolate Oranges are currently reduced from £2.02 to just £1.

Over at ASDA, you can pick up two 340g jars of Sun-Pat peanut butter for £2 (usual price £1.78 each). And the better-than-half-price offer is still running on 1l bottles of Ribena Really Light (with no added sugar): They’re reduced from £2.68 to £1.

Top Sainsbury’s deals include beef, lamb and pork joints, all reduced to half price.

And at NETTO there also some good deals on family roasts: Fresh turkey crown is £5.99 per kg, beef roasting joint is £4 per kg, pork leg joint is £3.99 per kg, and half legs of lamb are £4.99 per kg.

LIDL deals include six-packs of McCoy’s crisps for 75p, nine-packs of Penguin Bars for 64p, 1kg of lemons for 99p and 1kg of kiwi fruit for just 79p.

Over at Morrisons, top offers include seven-packs of Mini Cheddars for 70p (down from £1.40) and 750g jars of Dolmio pasta sauce for 96p (reduced from £1.92).

And finally, at Somerfield/The Co-op, there’s currently a better-than-half-price deal on Typhoo round tea bags: 160 bags now cost £1.79, reduced from £3.79.

There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.

If you’ve come across a great food deal at your local market, please do leave a comment at the bottom of the article letting us know. That way, fellow readers in your local area can take advantage of the offer you’ve flagged up. Thanks!

Tipple

You can currently grab a free pint of Guinness at O’Neill’s when you register here, print the voucher and present it in a branch of the pub.

Just remember that as always, terms and conditions apply. There’s a limit of one voucher per person per day, they aren’t valid at O’Neill’s London Drury Lane or at Stansted, and you have to be 18 or over (of course!).

You can use the vouchers until 6th April; and finally - due to licensing restrictions - soft drinks ONLY are available to claim in Scotland.

At Tesco, bottles of De Vallois Brut Non Vintage Champagne have been reduced from £27.99 to just £10.

At ASDA, you can currently pick up 1l bottles of Smirnoff vodka for £12 (down from £17.98) and 1l bottles of Bell’s Scotch whisky for £12 (reduced from £19.38).

And at Marks & Spencer, cases of Abel Charlot Champagne NV are currently half their normal price.

Voucher codes

The deadline for using the latest Ocado code (mentioned last week) has also been extended: You can still get 15% off your first shop at Ocado when you enter the code VOU1155403 at the check-out.

You’ll need to spend at least £40 to make the saving, be a new Ocado customer, and get your order delivered before 13th April.

Voucher code promotions tend to be withdrawn quickly. If you’ve missed out on this one, you can use the following websites to track down new voucher codes as and when they come up:

And finally… cheap Easter activities

Once your sprogs have demolished their chocolate eggs this weekend, some real ones could be a great cheap tool to keep them occupied.

This NetMums guide details all sorts of ways your children can decorate eggs - from attacking the hard boiled variety with thumbprints, crayons and stickers; to blowing raw eggs and painting the hollow shells.

And to use up all that egg, try one of the recipes on the British Lion Eggs website.

Good luck!
