Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.
Best supermarket deals
This week, I’m going to start with some good deals at NETTO. You can currently pick up 500ml pots of Ben & Jerry’s Mango Berry Swirl sorbet for just £1. You’ll have to be quick though, as this offer ends 28th March.
Also at Netto, six cans of Fanta, Lilt, Dr Pepper or Sprite will cost you £1.49 (reduced from £2.85).
Over at LIDL, you can get 1kg of red grapes for just £1.49.
And at ALDI, all Super 6 fruit and veg deals are currently 59p. This includes five-packs of lemons, 500g bags of white seedless grapes, and whole pineapples.
Morrisons is now selling eight unsmoked rashers of back bacon for 99p (down from £1.98) and 12 white rolls for 30p.
Other good Morrisons deals include Pizza Express Margherita pizzas, reduced from £4.99 to just £2 each. And you can still get 36 Jaffa Cakes for £1.29, down from the usual price of £2.59.
At Tesco there’s a 2 for 1 deal on Aero chocolate mousse, meaning you get eight pots for £1.19. And whole legs of lamb are half price, down to around £3.98 per kg.
There’s also 50% off a wide range of Dr. Oetker Ristorante pizzas, with most reduced from £2.59 to £1.29.
And finally, there’s a better-than-half-price deal on several types of Easter eggs: Many larger eggs are reduced from £5.49 to £2.50.
Top offers at Sainsbury’s include Freedom Food-endorsed whole chickens, reduced from £4.54 to £3.02. The 50% off Dr. Oekter pizza deal is happening here, too.
And there are still several good deals on Easter eggs, with a range of eggs reduced from £2 to 95p.

Donna Werbner compares three cheap Easter eggs with three expensive ones to find out which one tastes the best!
Finally, ASDA deals include two better-than-half-price offers: 1l bottles of Ribena Really Light (with no added sugar) have been reduced from £2.68 to £1. And - although boxes of Go Ahead bars are usually £2.14 each - you can currently pick up two for just £2.
There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.
If you’ve come across a great food deal at your local market, please do leave a comment at the bottom of the article letting us know. That way, fellow readers in your local area can take advantage of the offer you’ve flagged up. Thanks!
Tipple
At Netto, you can now pick up 18 440ml cans of Carlsberg for £10 (down from £13.99).
ASDA currently has a good deal on Baileys: You can now pick up 1l bottles for £9, reduced from £14.
And at Somerfield/The Co-op, you can now get two large crates of beer or cider (usually £10.99 each) for £16. Brands on offer include Bulmers, Stella, Budweiser and Carlsberg - and the offer ends 30th March.

And finally… free ‘grow your own’ goodies
If you want to try your hand at fruit and vegetable gardening this year, now’s the time to get started.
The BBC gardening site is giving away free seeds as part of its Dig In campaign. If you’re successful in your application, you’ll receive a packet of each of the five ‘Dig In’ veg - mixed salad, courgette, french bean, basil and carrot. You'll also get a booklet explaining how to grow them.
At the moment, you can also download a series of free ‘grow your own’ advice cards from the Garden Organic website. They’ll teach you everything you need to know about growing vegetables, fruit, herbs and even edible flowers!
