Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.
Best supermarket deals
This week, I’m going to start with the best deals at Tesco. Certain types of Goodfella’s pizza are currently half price, reduced from £2.79 to £1.39. And there’s a good 2 for 1 deal on a range of Loyd Grossman pasta sauces.
Tubes of Pringles are currently less than half price, reduced from £2.03 to just 74p. And finally, you can now get six Cadbury’s Creme Eggs for just £1.34, reduced from £2.69.
At ASDA, you can now pick up 12 pots of Muller Rice for £2 (six-packs usually cost £1.93 each); and the better-than-half-price deal is still operating on a range of Homepride sauces.
500ml bottles of Napolina Special Selection extra virgin olive oil have been reduced from £3.98 to £2. And finally, there’s a good offer on Taylors of Harrogate Yorkshire Tea: A box of 240 bags usually costs £5.98; but you can currently pick up two boxes for just £6.
Over at Sainsbury’s there are 2 for 1 deals on a range of Mr Kipling sweet treats, including Battenberg cake, jam tarts and Victoria Mini Classics. The 2 for 1 offer on various cookie bags is also still running.
On an equally unhealthy note, there several good deals on Easter eggs: A range of eggs have been reduced from £2 to 95p, and there are also several larger eggs reduced from £5 to £2.50.
Morrisons is currently selling 36 Jaffa Cakes for £1.29, down from the usual price of £2.59. You can also pick up 160 bags of Twinings Everyday tea for £2.09 (reduced from £4.19) and cartons of Princes orange juice for 50p (down from £1.09).
Over at LIDL, you can pick up a kilogram of baking potatoes for 50p, packs of kiwi fruit for 49p, and six-packs of Muller Fruit Corners for just £1.48.
And finally, top fruit and veg deals at ALDI include whole pineapples, 500g bags of white grapes, and six-packs of oranges - all for just 59p each.
There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.
If you’ve come across a great food deal at your local market, please do leave a comment at the bottom of the article letting us know. That way, fellow readers in your local area can take advantage of the offer you’ve flagged up. Thanks!
Tipple
At Sainsbury’s you can now get 18 275ml bottles of Carlsberg Export for £7.99 (reduced from £15.99).
Also at Sainsbury’s, you can get 25% off when you buy six or more bottles of wine or champagne. Just bear in mind that your order needs to be delivered by 23rd March.
