Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.

Best supermarket deals

This week, I’m going to start with the new ‘two dine for £10’ deal at Marks & Spencer. This offer runs from now until Sunday (28th February).

As usual, you can choose a main, side dishes and desserts for two - plus a bottle of wine - for £10. And you can view the full menu here.

Over at ASDA, there are still better-than-half-price deals on several McVitie’s cakes. There’s also a very good offer on frozen cod fillets: 400g bags usually cost £2 each, but you can currently pick up four bags for just £3!

The better-than-half-price deal on Twinings Everyday tea is still running. And finally, there are 2 for 1 deals on jars of green and red ASDA pesto.

At Sainsbury’s, top deals include a 2 for 1 offer on several varieties of Carte D’Or ice cream. And 450ml bottles of Hellmanns’ Salad Cream are half price - reduced from £1.56 to 78p.

Also at Sainsbury’s, there’s 50% off a range of McVitie’s digestive biscuits.

Tesco is running various dairy offers at the moment, including 2 for 1 deals on Seriously Strong cheddar, Philadelphia and Activia yoghurt multi-packs.

There’s also a better-than-half-price deal on Onken Wholegrain yoghurt. And finally, there’s a good deal on Nescafe Gold Blend coffee: 200g jars usually cost £5.79, but you can now pick one up for £3.50.

It’s Price Crunch week over at Morrisons, with lots of food staples reduced. For example, 1kg bags of Rooster potatoes are reduced from £1 to just 30p, and four-packs of apples are down from £1 to 30p as well.

At Somerfield/The Co-operative you can get 18-packs of McCoy’s crisps reduced from £4 to £2. And there’s more than 50% off 1l bottles of Napolina extra virgin olive oil: Each one is £2.50, down from £5.99.

Finally, the current Super Six range at ALDI includes 500g of plums, six-packs of pears and 2.5kg of baking potatoes - all for just 49p each.

There are sometimes much better deals on offer at street markets and independent shops than there are at the supermarkets. Unfortunately, their local nature makes it impossible for us to cover them properly here.

If you’ve come across a great food deal at your local market, please do leave a comment at the bottom of the article letting us know. That way, fellow readers in your local area can take advantage of the offer you’ve flagged up. Thanks!

Tipple

At Sainsbury’s there’s a good offer on Stella Artois (5%). You can currently pick up 15 440ml cans for £7.99 (usual price £15.98).

There’s also a big sale at Tesco Wine, with the price of many red, white, rose and sparkling wines reduced by more than a third. Check out the full sale range here.

If you want to make the most of your Tesco Clubcard vouchers, don’t spend them in Tesco itself. Instead, think about using them at restaurants that are partners of the Clubcard scheme. That way, they’re likely to be worth up to four times as much.

For example, every £10 in Clubcard vouchers gives £40 of Clubcard rewards tokens when you use them at Bella Italia, Café Rouge, Pizza Express or STRADA. You can find the full list of restaurants involved in the scheme here.

Every effort is made to source voucher codes which are valid at the time this article is published. However, please be aware that lovemoney.com cannot guarantee that every voucher will be valid or that it will not be withdrawn by the provider immediately.
