The latest supermarket discounts, money-off coupons, restaurant vouchers and deals, food freebies and competitions.

Welcome to this week's Frugal Food.

Aldi

This week’s Super 6 offer includes savoy cabbages, three-packs of mild onions, three-packs of lemons, 500g of beetroot, 1kg of carrots and 350g of broccoli – all for only 39p each. Offers end 9th February

Asda

At Asda you can pick up a pack of Pilgrims Choice Mature Chedder, Lighter Extra Mature Chedder and Extra Mature Chedder, on a two for £4 deal (normally £3 each).

Lots of the Weight Watchers products are also on offer and the Sweet & Sour Chicken with long grain rice, Vegetable Arrabiata, Bolognese al forno and the Classic Cottage Pie are all down from £2.48 to £1.50.

When stocking up on pancake goods, check out the Betty Crocker Shake to Make Pancake mix (155g) as you can get two for £2 (normally £1.78 each).

There's also three for £3 deals on Schwartz seeds and spices (normally £1.46 each) including paprika, caraway seeds, sage and dill.

Lidl

This week at Lidl you can save 40p on packets of Scottish cooked mussels in sauce, now £1.59, and 21% on a 200g of bacon medallions, now £1.49. Price cuts have also been made to a 500g pack of British parsnips, now 49p (from 69p), and a bunch of spring onions, down 20p to 39p a pack.

There are also special weekend deals to look out for such as fresh kiwi fruit, now half price at 13p each, and a cured pork joint, also half price at £1.99.

The deals from Lidl are regional so enter your post code on the website to check for your local store’s offers.

Marks & Spencer

This weekend at Marks & Spencer there is a Chinese takeaway for two offer which includes two mains, two sides and a bottle of wine. In the mains section you can choose from dishes such as battered chicken, crispy lemon chicken, crispy prawns, oriental vegetables in BBQ sauce, sticky pork buns and spicy pork, beef or chicken noodles. The sides include egg fried rice, egg noodles, mini spare ribs and prawn baguette toast. You can see the full menu including wines here and it ends on 10the February.

Morrisons

As it’s Pancake Day coming up, Morrisons has cut the price of a pack of lemon syrup pancakes to 86p (from £1.29). When it comes to toppings, the price for a 400g pot of Nutella is now £1.43 (from £2.15) and you can save 85p when buying Askeys strawberry sauce and 66p on Lyle’s Golden Syrup which is now 66p (from £1.00) until the 17th February.

A selection of everyday favourites, such as a loaf of Hovis white medium bread, Soreen Mega Malt Loaf, six Mr Kipling Bakewell Slices and a 12-pack of Hovie crumpets are all now £1.

In keeping with the Chinese New Year, you can also get a Chinese dinner multi-buy deal for £5. This includes dishes such as sweet and sour chicken, chicken in black bean sauce, spring rolls and prawn crackers.

Ocado

There’s quite a few items in Ocado’s latest BOGOF selection including Ocado Clementines (600g) (usually £2.15 each), Clover (500g) (usually £2 each) and a six-pack of Eggs for Soldiers, free range eggs which are normally £1.99 each.

Also on BOGOF is; a 350g pack of Cathedral City Lighter Mature Chedder (normally £4.50), a pack of Waitrose Organic Pineapple (was £1.79 each) and an Ocado Kiddies! Apple pack (was £2 each).

In the freezer section there are also some good discounts. Birds Eye Chicken Nuggets 720g packs are down to £2.50 (from £5), Young’s Gastro Florentine Crusted Alaskan Pollock Fillets are £1.97 (from £3.99), and Haagen-Daz 500ml ice cream pots in a range of flavours are now £2.22 (from £4.45).

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s also has some Pancake Day offers on Abra-ca-Debora chilled plain and sweet dutch pancakes now £1.00 (from £1.75) and the shop’s own chocolate orange spread (400g) is now £1.12 (from £1.69).

More best buys of the week include; a 12-pack of Richmond Irish thick sausages at £1.75 (from £3.50), a four-pack of Snickers bars for £1.00 (from £1.89), a one-litre bottle of Ribena for £1.44 (from £2.89) and a 14-pack of Birds Eye fish fingers for £1.49 (from £2.99).

You can also get two packs of Sainsbury’s Pink Lady apples for £3 (normally £2.75), a Sainsbury’s margherita pizza for £1.87 (from £3.75) and a pot of Sharwood’s Green Label mango chutney for £1.00 (from £1.99).

When it comes to the BOGOF deals, you can pick from an eight-pack of caffeine free diet coke (normally £3.85 each) and a four-pack of Muller Light Greek and strawberry cherry yoghurts (normally £2.19 each).

Top deals at Tesco this week include; a four-pack of Kellogg’s Rice Krispies Squares for £1.00 (from £1.99), a four-pack of Branston baked beans for £1.27 (from £2.55), a 12-pack of mini Babybels for £2.00 (from £3.00) and a pack of six Alaskan salmon fillets for £5.00 (from £10.00).

Meat deals include a packet of Red Lion chicken (eight slices) for £1.65 (from £3.30) or three for two on packs of Tesco Finest Italian antipasto (usually £3 each).

Vegetarians can also grab some bargains as 350g packs of Quorn mince and chicken and Quorn ready meals such as cottage pie and lasagne are all in a three for £5 deal.

Waitrose

Cereal bars are on offer this week with McVitie’s Go Ahead! Crispy Slices (six-pack) for 84p (was £1.69) and Belvita Breakfast Biscuits in honey and nut and milk and cereal flavours for £1.24 (was £2.49).

You can also fill your online trolley with bargains such as; Robinsons double concentrate (1.75l) for £1.82 (was £3.65), McVitie’s Milk Chocolate Hobnobs (300g) for 87p (was £1.75), Waitrose free range eggs (six-pack) for £1.10 (was £1.66) and the Thorntons Premium Collection (214g) for £3.50 (was £7.00).

Westin Gourmet

Consider buying your meat from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet.

Right now special offers include 12% off smoked streaky bacon (2.25kg) which is now £11.61 (from £13.22), 20% off French Brie for £15.99 (was £20.02 for 1kg wheel) and a whole fed chicken for £12.48 (was £15). These offers expire on 11th February.

Voucher codes and coupons

Before you hit the supermarkets, check for any money-saving coupons:

Burgen bread is offering 30p off large loafs with a voucher which you can download from the website.
You can get 50p off your next purchase of Blue Dragon sweet chilli dipping sauce by filling in your details and printing off a voucher online.
Get 50p off a pack of Weight Watchers fromage frais or dessert of your choice by downloading a voucher from the website.
Register and download a voucher for 50p off a 1litre pack of almond milk from Almond Breeze.

Cheap tipples

At Sainsbury’s bottles of the McGuigan Bin Series Merlot and Chardonnay (750ml) are now £4.99 (from £9.99) while for those celebrating, the Piper Heidsieck Brut Non Vintage Champagne (750ml) is down to £15.49 (was £30.99).

Wine prices at Tesco have also been halved and the Isla Negra Sauvignon Blanc is now £4.99 (from £9.99) while the Plaza Centro Prosecco has been cut to £5.99 (was £11.99).

Tesco has also knocked down the price of Absolut Raspberri Vodka to £15.00 (from £19.70), the Vladivar Classic Vodka to £13.50 (from £14.50) and the Stolichnaya Russian Vodka to £15.70 (from £19.70) while the price of Greenall’s Original London Dry Gin is now £11.00 (was £14.39) at Sainsbury’s.

Waitrose has some good bargains on beer, a four-pack of Tiger Lager is £3.74 (was £4.99), a 12-pack of Kronenbourg is £9.00 (was £12.00), a six-pack of Budweiser is £5.10 (was £6.80) and 750ml bottles of Leffe Blonde are now £2.54 (was £3.18).

Best restaurant deals

As always, new and extended deals appear at the top of the table. As Thursday 14th is Valentine's Day, many restaurants won't accept vouchers after a certain time or at all. Please check the terms and conditions of any offer carefully before booking.
