This week's highlights include loads of Christmas food and booze bargains, a roast dinner for four at M&S, free cocktails and chocolate and lots more.

Welcome to this week's Frugal Food. As ever, we start with the latest supermarket bargains.

Aldi

This week’s Super 6 offer, ending 24th November, five-packs of lemons, 500g of plums, three-packs of peppers, 750g of sweet potatoes, six-packs of conference pears and 750g of red onions, all for only 69p each! And for Christmas buy Chocolate Bombes for £1.89, Luxury Panaforte for £2.99, Specially Selected Irish Cream for £5.99 and Christmas pud for £3.79.

Asda

Before the Christmas indulgence really begins, buy Asda New Potatoes for £1.15/kg (was £1.50/kg),  Royal Gala Apples for £1.65/kg (was £1.95/kg) and Conference Pears for £1.90/kg (was £2.25/kg). It’s also two for £1.50 on Chestnut Mushrooms (250g) and two for £2 on Baby Parsnips (250g).

You can also buy Yazoo Strawberry Flavour Milkshake (1L) for £1 (was £1.20), Asda Olive Spread (500g) and Light Sunflower Spread (500g) for £1 (was £1.39), Asda Grapefruit Segments in Fruit Juice No Added Sugar (540g) for 41p (was 48p), Chosen by You Lemon Curd for 50p (was 62p), Robertson's Golden Shred Marmalade for £1 (was £1.23), Daddies Brown Sauce (600g) for £1.57 (was £1.98) and Extra Special Rich Chicken Gravy (335g) for £1 (was £1.48).

Spend £40 or more on your Asda shop between 19th November 2012 and 9th December 2012, then go to the Asda Price Guarantee website and enter your receipt details before 31st December 2012 to get £5 off when you spend another £40. Various items excluded.

Lidl

Half-price this weekend, buy Manor Vale cheddar slices for 49p, a whopping 5kg of onions for 99p, 12-packs of Hula Hoops for £1.14 and 6-packs of Muller yoghurt for £1.79 – only available on Saturday and Sunday. You can also buy boneless pork leg joints for half-price at £2.99 and British beef roasting joints for £4.99/kg (was £7.99/kg).

M&S

This week at Marks & Spencer you get a roast for four for £10. Pick your main (a large whole chicken, gammon, pork leg, lamb shoulder, beef or pork loin joint) and three side dishes. See the full menu here. Offer ends Sunday 25th November.

Morrisons

Buy Christmas treats including chocolate gold coins, chocolate santas, Haribo Starmix and Nestle Smarties tubes, for £1. There's half-price cheese such as Seriously Strong Cheddar 350g for £2.46 and Boursin for £1.09 and cheap tins for your cupboard including Napolina Chopped/Plum Tomatoes four-packs for £2.44 (was £4.89), John West Red Salmon 213g for £1.99 (was £3.99), Fragata Pitted Black Olives 820g for £1.49 (was £2.99) and Branston Baked Beans & Sausages at two for £1.

Warm up for a winter morning with Scott's Old Fashioned Porage Oats (1Kg) for £1.69 (was £1.89) and Aunt Jemima the Original Pancake & Waffle Mix for £3.59 (was £3.99),  make a nice pie with Jus Rol Frozen All Butter Puff Pastry Block (500g) for £1.33 (was £2) or Jus Rol Frozen All Butter Shortcrust Pastry Block (500g) for £1.73 (was £2.60), and if you’re making a hearty soup, shove in some Waitrose Love Life Pearl Barley (500g) for 49p and Waitrose Garlic Croutons (250g) for £1.49.

In the freezer, pick up these bargains: Waitrose Pea & Asparagus Risotto (1.2kg) for £3.93 (was £5.25), Birds Eye Fish Fusions Garlic & Herb (2 per pack - 300g) for £1.99 (was £2.99), Mackie's Traditional Luxury Dairy Ice Cream (1L) for £2 (was £2.97) and Nestle After Eight Ice Cream Dessert (750ml) for £1.68 (was £3.39).

Fancy a taste of the finer things in life? Sainsbury's Asparagus Spears (350g) are now £2 (was £3), Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Vintage Reserve English Cheddar (250g) is also £2 (was £2.89), Taste the Difference Honey Roast Wiltshire Cured Ham Slices (4 per pack is £1.44 (was £2.89) and Sainsbury's Large Sharon Fruit (3) packs are £1 (was £2).

And for Christmas Bernard Matthews Golden Norfolk Small Basted Whole Turkey Serves 6-8 (approx 3.4Kg) is £13 (was £16), while Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Free Range Small Whole Turkey (approx 3.9Kg) is £15 (was £18), Sainsbury's Rich Un-Iced Fruit Cakes (1kg) are £4 (was £5) and Terry's Chocolate Orange Segsations (330g) are £2 (was £4.39).

For Christmas at Tesco it’s two for £7 on Tesco Finest Traditionally Made Pork Sausages (10 per pack) (was £4 each) and three for two on Tesco Finest Onion & Shallot Gravy (345g) (was £1.48 each), you can also buy a big Tesco Finest Christmas Pudding with Couvoisier VS Cognac (907g) for £4.95 (was £7.50), Nestle Quality Street Matchmakers for £1 (was £2.24), Tesco Classic Christmas Pudding (1.2Kg) for £5 (was £6), Robertson's Classic Mincemeat (411g) for £1 (was £1.39), Carr's Selection (200g) for £1.50 (was £2.49).

Before you hit the supermarkets, check for any money-saving coupons:

On special offer at Aldi, look out for 24 Year Old Single Malt Whisky for £29.99, El Dorado 15 Year Old Rum for £35.99, Vintage Brandy 1973 Fine Bordeaux for £24.99 and Grand Cru Champagne for £22.99 – all a bit special and ideal for boozy Christmas presents. 

Marks & Spencer is also a good shout for decent plonk, with up to 50% off selected wine cases, half-price cases of champagne (working out to £15 per bottle) and 15% off when you buy two Christmas wine cases.

In store at Morrisons buy any 6 bottles of wine (including those on offer) and save 25% or go online to Morrisonscellar you can save 25% on any case with the code CASE25 before Sunday 25th November.

New customers save £10 when they spend £50 at Tesco Wine with the ongoing code XXMML4. And, if you’re using up your Clubcard vouchers, you can turn every £5 of vouchers into £10 of tokens to spend on Tesco Finest wines and Champagnes.
