Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food.

Best supermarket deals

Aldi

Aldi's Super Six this week are avocadoes, beetroot, spring onions, iceberg lettuce, lemons and four-packs of baking potatoes for 39p each.

Asda

This week’s pick of the discounts at Asda includes Long Clawson Creamy Blue Stilton 220g reduced from £2.20 to £1.98, Mature Gouda 175g, reduced from £2 to £1.80 and Mozzarella di Bufalo 125g, reduced from £1.47 to £1.32 (all from the Extra Special range). You can also save 50p on a four-pack of Pink Lady Apples (now £2), or buy 2.5kg of New Potatoes for £1.39 (was £1.55) and save 10p on two Little Gem Lettuces (now 78p).

For your freezer, its three for £2 on bags of 50 Cocktail Sausage Rolls (usually £1 each), two for £1.50 on Taj Crushed Garlic and Ginger (usually 97p each) and two for £3 on various Asda Chosen By You meat packs including 12-packs of Beef Burgers, 700g bags of BBQ Chicken Drumsticks and 700g bags of Hickory Spare Ribs (all usually £2 each). 

Get free delivery at Asda on any order worth £99 with the code AMFD2799, valid until 31st August.

Lidl

The four half-price weekend deals at Lidl are 1kg of nectarines (now 99p), 360g packs of beef lean frying steak (now £1.24), McCoys six-packs (now 94p) and Dulano packs of wafer thin beech salami (now 89p) – all available on Saturday and Sunday only. Look out for these offers too; 35% off loose fresh vine tomatoes (now £1.29/kg), 35% off Piel de Sapo melons (now £1.29 each), 1kg of Clover for £1.99 and Southern Fried chicken goujons for £1.99.

Morrisons

This week pick up these half-price bargains: British boneless pork shoulder joints (now £2/kg), Youngs Fish Fillets 460g (now £2) and Handmade Scottish Salmon Fishcakes with Parsley (now £1.96). For your greens, medium cauliflowers are 59p (was £1.19), iceberg lettuces are 50p each (was £1) and fresh cut herbs are two for £1 (usually 80p each). You can also buy pineapples for £1 (was £2.50), nectarine/plum punnets for 50p (was £1) , 1.5kg of carrots for £1 (was £1.35) and four-packs of salad tomatoes for 50p (was 75p).

Ocado

First time Ocado shoppers can use VOU1304996 for £10 off first orders over £50 (expires 31st Dec). There is also a new Ocado Summer Sale with up to 50% off until 16th August.

Sainsbury’s

I can’t stand them but my mate is obsessed with Curiously Cinnamon Grahams 375g, now reduced to £1.50 (was £2.29). Alternatively, grab a box of Kellogg’s Just Right 500g, now £2 (was £3.14) and Bran Flakes 750g or Corn Flakes 750g for only £2 (was £2.69). Other store cupboard discounts include Sainsbury’s Gherkins for 42p (was 85p), Por Kwan Red Curry Paste 400g for £1.25 (was £2.50), Discovery Mexican BBQ Fajita Kits for £1.59 (was £3.19), Walkers Doritos Variety 12-packs for £1.59 (was £3.19) and Taste the Difference Moroccan Cous-Cous 460g which is half-price at £2 - but if you can’t taste the difference you can buy this 500g bag for 69p!

Sweet treats on offer include Nestle Yorkie 7-packs for 77p (was £1.55), Mr Kipling Victoria Slices for £1 (was £1.40), McVitie's M&M's Chocolate Brownie for 60p (was £1) and Gü After Dark Morello Cherry Bakewell Puds for £2 (was £3.59).

New Sainsbury’s shoppers can use code RJDG-CHYR-CFHG for £10 off grocery spends over £60, valid until Tuesday 2nd October. If you’re happy to spend more, YR6N-3JM4-7DKD knocks £15 off a £80 spend, valid until Saturday 4th August.

Tesco

Tesco is running a summer Clubcard exchange, where you can swap £5-worth of vouchers for £10-worth of tokens to spend in departments including frozen food. It ends on 29th August.

Best buys this week include Burgen Sunflower & Chia Bread 750g for 85p (was £1.39), Mission Original Deli Wraps for £1 (was £1.80), Bertolli Olive Oil Spread 500g for 95p (was £1.90), Tesco Classic Dip Selection for £1.10 (was £2.20), Tesco Cod & Chips for £2 (was £3.50), Boursin with Shallot & Chive for £1.10 (was £2.20) and Mu Mature Cheddar 350g for £2 (was £3.50).

And, for only £1 you can pick up fresh Tesco Supersweet Sweetcorn (was £2), mix 500g bags of cauliflower, broccoli and carrots (was £1.50), four large kiwis (was 30p each), 260g of spinach (was £1.75), sweet celery hearts (was £1.10), two Tesco peppers (was 78p each) and 160g of Tesco sweet beetroot leaf salad (was £1.60).

Shop three times at Tesco and you’ll be given 300 extra Clubcard points on each shop when you use these codes – XXLRNF for 1st shop, XXYRYP for 2nd shop and XXL7MH for 3rd shop – for orders delivered before 31st August 2012. If you complete all three shops, you’ll be rewarded with an extra 600 points, totalling 1,500 Clubcard points, worth up to £60 if you exchange them for Clubcard rewards!

And save £10 on a £50 spend online with code XXAFFT, expires 31st August.

Westin Gourmet

Finally, check out the special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 20% off corn-fed chicken (now £12.86 for a 1.5kg bird), 13% off Cumberland sausages (now £6.44 for 24 sausages) and 18% off diced turkey breast (now £9.65 for a 1kg pack).

Voucher codes and coupons

Before you hit the supermarkets, check for any money-saving coupons:

• It’s the return of the Häagen-Dazs £1 off offer on their Secret Sensations. Like their Facebook page and download your free voucher, expires 17th August 2012.
• Get 50p off a Nature Valley Cereal Bar, coupon expires 16th September 2012.

Or if you’re shopping online, cut costs with these codes:

• At Thorntons you get a free 200g box of chocs (worth £6.99) when you spend £20! Add them to your basket and enter the code FSSC at the checkout to get it for free. Or use code AFFP to knock 20% off your order, min spend £20 (expires 5th August).
