I am amazed at some of the weird items the supermarkets discount. Not good basic food , often bizarre things that I would never buy in a zillion years. I suspect the items are all overpriced to begin with and all 'added salt/sugar/rubbish' to make them look attractive. Stick to basic ingedients and make the items yourself.

The rain is swelling my broad beans but knockingthem over, so a two edged sword. Luckily I planted blight resistant potatoes and tomatoes this year . With the rain and warm it could be a good year for the blight, I shall not spray mine but commercial growers will to save their crop. So you lot will be ingesting a load of nasty chemicals over the next year in spuds- and crisps of course !

@oldhenry, good point about potatoes. I think it's Bordeaux mixture they spray with. It makes the potatoes smell awful when you cook baked potatoes. The answer, if you can't grow your own is to peel them before you put them in the oven. I was given baked potatoes when I was in hospital some years ago, I could smell them coming as soon as they entered the ward!

Every cloud has a silver lining, at least it's raining on Wimbledon, the flower shows, garden parties and other jollies they have down south. It'll keep their champagne cool. ;)
