Best supermarket deals

This week we’re going to kick off with the best buys at Sainsbury’s. If you want to fill your fridge with your favourite cheese, French Roule is £1 (was £1.85), Taste the Difference Mature Barbers Cruncher is £3 (was £3.99) Pilgrims Choice Extra Mature Cheddar is £2.14 (was £4.29), Tine Jarlsberg is £1 (was £1.68), Creamy Blue Stilton is £1.35 (was £1.85) and Taste the Difference Tuxford & Tebbutt Blue Stilton is £1.68 (was £2.18).

You can also treat yourself to some Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate Fairtrade for £2 (was £3.59), Chocolate Mini Rolls for £1 (was £1.55), two for one on any of these Kipling goodies, Sainsbury's British Strawberries 227g for £1.50 (was £3) Sainsbury's Red Seedless Grapes for £2.49/kg (was £4.98) and Satsumas for £1.25 (was £2.49). And, grab some handy quick-fix meals with Italian Pepperoni 10" Pizzas for £1.80 (was £3.60), Innocent Veg Pots for £1.89 (was £3.79) and Young’s Scampi Bites for £1.99 (was £3.99).

There is also a handy meal deal at Sainsbury’s – choose four ready meal mains and two sides for only £10 from the take-away menu including Indian, Chinese, Levi Roots and Mexican. Available in-store and online.

Heading to Tesco, four-packs of Parioli chopped tomatoes are £2 (was £4.29), or grab Cook Italian chopped tomatoes at two for £1 (was £1.11 each), and for more Italian foodies, Filippo Berio Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml is £2 (was £3.39) and Borges Extra Virgin Olive Oil 500ml is £1.89 (was £3.79).

In the meat section, Tesco Salmon Side is reduced to £10/kg, Tesco Healthy Living Skinless Chicken Breast Fillets are half price at £3, and Danepak Unsmoked Thick Cut Bacon is  £1.59 (was £3.19).

But if you want some bargain fruit, look out for punnets of blueberries for £1.99 (was £3.99) and new season plums for £1.50 (was £3), loose seedless red grapes for £2.49/kg (was £4.99) and organic strawberries 400g for £1.99 (was £3.99).

And for some snacks, Jacob's Iced Gems, McVitie's Jaffa Cakes Mini Pods and McVitie's Mini Chocolate Shorties are all reduced to £1 (was £1.69).

Asda best buys this week include naughty treats such as Cadbury Chocolate Mallows for £1 (was £1.79), Fox's Chocolatey Mini Caramel Shortcake Pouch for £1 (was £1.99), Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Apple bars for £1 (was £2.18), Walkers Baked Variety for £1 (was £1.68), Kettle Chips Wave Cut for £1 (was £1.84) and Snack-a-Jacks for £1 (was £1.68).

You can also buy Napolina Extra Virgin Olive Oil 750ml for £2.50 (was £4.98), Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough Ice Cream for £2.50 (was £4) and Alpro Soya Milk Alternative 1+ Years 1L for £1 (was £1.44).

And for an Asda multibuy bargain, look out for three for £1 on KTC chickpeas and chopped tomatoes, two for £6 on various meats including Butcher's Selection Boneless Easy Care Pork Shoulder with Pork, Sage & Onion 700g and six-packs of Chosen by You Burgers BBQ Quarter Pounders, plus two for £2 on Organic Baby Potatoes 750g (was £1.17) and Golden Delicious apples 750g (was ).

On to the half-price weekend deals at Lidl. Buy 1kg of chicken drumsticks for £1.12, two Dulano Premium Kabanossi pork sausages for 94p and cucumbers for 39p.

There is also a Taste of Mexico promo with special offers so look for El Tequito bargains, but otherwise, you can still save on everything from sweet potatoes (now 89p per kg) and  peppers (three for 99p) to Vitafit apple juice (now 99p for 1.5L) and crème fraiche (now 49p for Milbona 200g cartons).

Then at Morrisons, better than half-price offers include four-packs of Princes Tuna Chunks in Brine/Water/Oil for £2.99, Tilda Long Grain/Easy Cook Rice 500g for £1, two packs of GU Desserts for £1.70, and in the freezer section, McCain Chunky Home Fries 1kg for £1, McDougalls Bacon or Broccoli & Cheese Lattices for £1.

You can also save 50% on Bassets Jelly Babies, Liquorice Allsorts and Maynards Wine Gums, now 74p, Cadbury Eclairs, now 67p, Daddies Squeezy Brown/Tomato Sauce, now 69p, 4-packs of Kellogg's Special K Cereal Bars, now 99p, and Napolina Extra Virgin Olive Oil 1 litre, now £3.24.

Finally, check out the special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 19% off a whole barbary duck, now £10.67 for a 1.5kg bird, 18% off meaty pork sausages, now £6.64 for 24 sausages and 12% off traditional French Emmental, now £20.67 for a 1.90kg block.

Cheap tipple

Get 25% off when you buy six bottles of any wine, champagne or fortified wine at Sainsbury’s (excludes Scotland and valid for deliveries before 1st May). Other booze deals worth a look include Big Pack Beers for £11 each or two for £20 and various wines with 50% off including Champagne Henry Dumanois Brut Rosé (now £13.99) and First Cape First Selection Chardonnay (now £4.99).

Half-price wines at Morrisons include Stormhoek Sparkling Rose Moscato for £5.99 (was £11.99), Calvet Prestige Sauvignon Semillon for £5.49 (was £10.99) and St Chinian for £4.99 (was £9.99). Or save even more with Campo Rojo Gran Seleccion for £4.19 (was £8.49) and Lagunilla Rioja Reserva Maximum - six cases maximum per customer - for £4.99 (was £12.49).
