We’ve got new and extended restaurant deals from Pizza Express, Strada, Prezzo, Cafe Rouge & Giraffe, dine out at top London restaurants for only £10, great Supermarket deals from ‘the big four’ on both healthy and indulgent foods, half price champagne and half price membership of the M&S Wine Club.

Welcome to the first Frugal Food edition of 2012! There are plenty of deals on food, wine and dining out around, so whether you are looking for healthy deals or want to cheer yourself up with a treat there will be something out there for you!

Best supermarket deals

This week we will start with some deals and 2 for 1 offers from Sainsburys. Taste the Difference West Country Mature Cheddar (400g) is £4.15 for two packs, while a huge range of fruits and vegetables are available for only £1. You can also get three Wild Pacific Salmon fillets for £10.

At Asda there are great offers on healthy and weight-control foods, such as Weightwatchers Ocean Pie down to £1 and Weightwatchers bread down from 93p to 50p. You can nab two packs of Pink Lady Apples for £3, 2 for £2 on a wide range of fruits and vegetables from potatoes to satsumas, while Asda whole chicken is two for £7. Or do the ethical thing and go free range for £4.58 for 1kg. Also, many items are now slashed to 50p like Heinz beans and Napolina tomatoes.

There are lots of healthy offers at Tesco too. Save 74p on Florette Crispy salad now only £1, there’s two for one on Country Life Spreadable Lighter, while Napolina Extra Virgin Olive Oil is better than half price at £2.69. Take advantage of the Finest Meal Deal for 2 including one side dish, main, dessert and bottle of wine or soft drink for only £10 until 17th January. Also there is £10 off your first £50 grocery order using this HotukDeals voucher.

If you are already tired of healthy foods go to Waitrose and pick up some Gu mini pots, as they are two for £3.50, while Haagan Dazs ice cream is two for £2. You can also get two fresh chickens for £8 until 24th January 2012. And there’s also free delivery on online orders over £50 – discount automatically applied at checkout.

Sign up to MySupermarket to be emailed deals, vouchers and discounts. A £10 Sainsbury’s voucher off a £50 shop was just sent out, but expired very quickly due to massive demand, so make sure you’re quick off the mark with these deals!

Finally, check out this week’s special deals from online butcher Westin Gourmet. There’s 20% off 18 Lincolnshire sausages (now £6.12) and 2.27kg packs of unsmoked rindless bacon (now £10.17), while there’s 26% off sliced 13g of Serrano ham (£2.02) and 19% off a 2kg whell of Blue Stilton cheese.

Drinks

M&S have up to 50% off selected wines, including Louis Chaurey Champagne at half price – a case of six bottles is down from £180 to £90, working out at only £15 a bottle! There is also a wine sale, with 50% off selected wines and you can also get 50% off membership of the New World Discoveries Wine Club.

Sainsburys is offering 33% off on a 15 pack of Fosters beer, which was £13.79 and is now £9.19, while you can select three wines for £12 for delivery before 24th January. Tesco has got Freixenet Cava down from £9.49 to £6 valid from 5-31st January.

Save up to 50% in the Laithwaites wine sale, including its best ever January Sale Showcase, comprised of 12 bottles, down from £87.98 to £64.99. Virgin wines also has up to 50% off on Winter Sale wine, or you can take a lucky dip and opt for a mystery case containing 12 boutique wines, with up to £49 off per case.

    @annabelle kerswell great idea, much cheaper and healthier. We do that where I live; we call it cheese on toast.

    All those 50p things in Asda are worth mentioning if you like cream of chicken soup, cream of tomato soup and things with milk in. I prefer home made soup without the milk in. Lidl have New Covert Garden Soup this week, I might check it out; see if it has milk in it...

    Mike10613 we make our own tomato soup aswell. Especially easy as the basics are tomatoes and a pan - and it tastes better than that muck with milk in.

    As for the pizzas, pizza bread mix is about a quid from Morrisons - or wholemael flour; your choice.
