We’ve got new and extended restaurant deals including 4 for 3 starters at Belushis today only, BOGOF chips at Moto motorway stations and two meals and two drinks for £9.99 at Sizzling Pubs. Plus, get a dozen free Krispy Kreme doughnuts when you buy any other dozen in January, save £40 on a Thorntons Christmas hamper, buy a 12-bottle case of wine working out to £3.33 per bottle at Virgin Wine and grab 2 for 1 pizzas at Pizza Hut Delivery!

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. 

Best supermarket deals 

This week we’re going to kick off with LIDL and its half-price Christmas deals with 500g of parsnips for 34p, 1kg of Devon custard for 75p, 150g of Knights crisps for 44p and 300g of KP nuts for 74p. Elsewhere in the store you can buy 1kg of carrots for 39p, 1kg of sprouts for £1, buy 2 packs of Scottish smoked salmon for £5, Ferrero Rocher for £2.99 and buy 2 packs of Crusti Croc butter or cheese twists for £1.50, saving you 48p. 

In store at Marks & Spencer you can save a third on selected meat joints, grab half-price biscuit cartons and half-price cheese, BOGOF on clementines, buy 4 for 3 on party food and grab half-price salmon, prawns and champagne! 

But if you’re shopping at Sainsbury’s look out for half-price Taste the Difference clementines (now 1.50), Organic blueberries (now £2) and asparagus spears (now £1.50). You can also save 20p on these Taste the Difference sweet spear carrots (now £1), 50p on pomegranates (now £1), 79p on Brussels sprout trees (now £1) and save a small but still welcome 10p on Taste the Difference baby leeks (now £1.50). 

Don’t spend your money on a pre-packaged cheese selection - there are great deals on cheese right now including 2 for £3 on Port Salut (usually £1.76 each), half-price stilton (now £3 for 454g), Societe Roquefort for £2 (was £2.75) and BOGOF on Taste the Difference West Country and Mull of Kintyre mature cheddar (usually £4.15 each). 

For something sweet, there are some good buys at Asda including Cadbury Fabulous Fingers for £1 (was £1.99), 2 for £1.50 on Terry’s Chocolate Orange Cookies (usually 76p each), McVitie’s Victoria Biscuit Selection for £5 (was £12). You can also save £2 on Extra Special smoked salmon (now £5 for 280g), 38p on Extra Special sausages (now £2), 24p on Party Pork Cocktail Sausages (now £1.50) and buy beef roasting joints at £4.44 per kg (was £8.97). And, for your store cupboard Sacla pasta sauces are reduced from £1.98 to £1.58, Frosties and Rice Krispies are reduced from £2.68 to £2 and Tilda steamed rice packs are reduced from £1.49 to £1. 

Over at Tesco you can save money on various bakery treats including Danish cinnamon whirls for 37p (was 75p), double chocolate muffins for £1 (was £1.40), Euro Bakery Taftoon naan for 99p (was £1.99), panini rolls for 80p (was £1), Tesco Finest flatbread for £1.59 (was £1.99) and Tesco Finest Victoria sponge or St Clements Lemon cake for £1.69 (was £2.25). 

It’s also 2 for 1 on various Tesco Finest cheeses including Reblochon (usually £2.49 each), Ossau-Iraty (usually £2.98 each), handmade extra mature double Gloucester (usually £2.50 each) and extra mature Red Leicester (usually £2.50 each). On to the fruit and veg, look out for baby avocadoes for £1.20 (was £1.50), apricot punnets for £1.49 (was £2.99), new season plums for £1.50 (was £3), bags of organic British apples for £1.49 (was £1.99) and organic ready to eat pears for £1.99 (was £2.49). 

Finally, check out the special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 15% off Cumberland sausages for £6.12 (was £7.23), 31% off a 1.5kg corn fed chicken for £9.68 (was £14.10) and 500g of diced chicken breast fillets for £3.90 (was £4.97).  

Tipple

Virgin Wines is offering up to £29 off selections of Chilean wine, plus you can save £25 on a case of French red wine and you can save 55% on various cases of Boutique wines – all three are now £39.99, working out to just £3.33 per bottle (don’t forget to cancel your Discovery Club membership afterwards though)! 

And, you can still save £15 on orders over £49.99 at Laithwaites Wine using the code VCODE15, valid until 31st December.

Cut-price snacks

Krispy Kreme has a new offer entitling you to a dozen free Original Glazed Doughnuts when you buy any dozen in January (offer valid 1st-31st January). Download your voucher here. 

Save a massive £40 on this Christmas treats hamper at Thorntons, now £60, which is absolutely huge contains (amongst many other things!) a 755g box of chocs, a 322g mint collection, 200g caramel melts, a chocolate santa, snowman and reindeer plus chocolate truffle baubles and snowman/santa lollies. 

Ongoing deals: 

• Get 2for1 Cokes (or Diet cokes) as part of the Coca Cola Designated Driver promotion. All you need to do is say you’re the designated driver and they will give you a voucher so that your next bottle is free. Offer is available every day at these pubs until 31st December.

Voucher codes and foodie sales

Check out the Whittard sale this week with up to 50% off items including this Bodum cafetiere (reduced from £15 to £11), this Keep Calm and Carry on tea pot for £14 (was £18) and this Florence red spotty mug for £3 (was £6). 

Then at Thorntons grab half-price chocolates in the sale and buy 3 blocks of choc for £5 (usually £1.79 each). Remember you can also get a free Mint Selection (250g) worth £6.99 when you spend £20, (excluding delivery and icing) using the code FMVC which is valid until the end of the year – note you will need to add the free product to your basket (product code 0239). 

There are free gifts up for grabs when you spend at Hotel Chocolat – if you spend £60 you get a free Winter Treasures box worth £11 and if you spend £100 they’ll throw in a £10 e-voucher too. You can also save 10% on orders over £20 at Hotel Chocolat in store with this voucher on any day of the week until 31st December. Tesco has released the code XXMFLP to save you £15 when you spend £100 or more on your first shop before 18th December. Or use code XXGLDR for 1,000 Clubcard points (worth £40 in Reward deals) when you spend £50 on groceries, for orders delivered by Tuesday 31st Dec. 

There is also an ongoing code XXMAGS1 over on HUKD saving new customers £10 when they spend £50 on groceries at Tesco but remember that certain items - including wine by the case, tobacco, infant milk formulae and prescription medicines - are not eligible for the discount. 

New Ocado shoppers spending £60 can use the Myvouchercodes.co.uk code VOU2806787 which saves you 15% until next year. 

AreYouPeckish.co.uk offers snack packs delivered to your office or home and as with its rival Graze.com you can get your first pack for free using the ongoing code peckish3.
