Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We've got new and extended restaurant deals from Café Rouge, Bella Italia, Ask, Prezzo, Toby Carvery, Miller & Carter, La Tasca, All Bar One and Yates, plus this weekend is your last chance to get pizza for £2, £5 off your bill or two takeaway pizzas for £10 at Pizza Express. There is also free Greggs food with the Daily Express today and tomorrow, £10 off at Lidl when you buy The Telegraph this weekend, free drinks at your local Village Pub and Kitchen, a free Blue Dragon sachet on Facebook and £5 off when you spend £40 at Asda!

Best supermarket deals

This week we’re going to kick off with LIDL. First of all you should buy The Telegraph this Saturday (3rd Dec) or Sunday (4th Dec) as you’ll get a voucher for £10 off a £60 spend. The paper costs £2 but you’re still £8 up. You can only use the vouchers once but you are free to buy as many copies of the paper as you like and use them on separate shops – they all expire on Tuesday 6th Dec though so don’t buy them if you won’t use them in time.

Once you’re in the store, look out for the four half-price weekend deals which this week are 500g packs of lean, fresh British beef mince (now £1.34), Fin Carre milk chocolate (now 17p), 2.5kg of King Edward potatoes (now 74p) and 1 litre bottles of Lucozade (now 99p). You can also buy chicken breast mini fillets for £2.29 (was £2.99), 750g of leeks for 79p (was £1.19), 1kg of pears for £1 (was £1.39) and two 1kg packs of pork medallions for £10 (usually £5.99 each). 

Tesco has some deals worth considering on cupboard essentials. Look out for 69p off Gourmet Garden herbs (now £1), East End tinned chickpeas for only 29p until Sunday (was 59p), Tesco butter beans for 36p (was 39p) and kidney beans for 38p (was 42p). Until Monday, grab two tins of Princes sweetcorn for £1.20, four tins of Heinz Cream of Chicken, Classic Vegetable or Cream of Tomato soup for £2 (was £3.19) and Sacla sauces for £1.59 (was £1.99) – although the wild mushroom risotto sauce is reduced from £2.49 to £1.86. Do check the Tesco Advent Calendar in case there are any foodie deals today.

There are some good rollback deals this week at Asda including beef roasting joint legs reduced from £8.97 per kg to £4.44 per kg, 50p off 500g of red or green grapes (now £2), 78p off Sun-Pat smooth peanut butter and crunchy peanut butter (now £1), £1.18 off Asda Stuffed Crust Pizza (now £2) and £2.68 off Lurpak Spreadable 1kg (now £3).

If you’re starting to feel Christmassy now that we’re in December look out for festive iced biscuits for £1 (was £1.50), Clippy’s Apple and Figgy Chilli Relish for £1.78 (was £2.18), Bailey’s Chocolate Assortment for £5 (was £10), and Maltesers Advent Calendar for £2 (was £2.50). Plus there are discounts across the Asda Extra Special range including All Butter Shortbread Rounds for £1.40 (was £1.65) or Shortbread Fingers for £1.42 (was £1.58), Parmesan & Garlic Twists for £1 (was £1.48) and Artisan Biscuits for Cheese for £2.50 (was £3.50).

Heading to Sainsbury’s, top Christmas deals include Jacob’s Biscuits for Cheese for £4.33 (was £6.50), 2 for £3 on Merchant Gourmet whole chestnuts (usually £1.99 each), 79p off Sainsbury’s Brussels sprout trees (now £1), half-price cranberries (now £2 for 300g) and Taste the Difference duck liver pate with Grand Marnier for £1.50 (was £2.15).

You can also buy Passion Shed jumbo cashew nuts or honey roasted macadamias & almonds for £1.41 (was £1.89), chestnut mushrooms for 50p (was £1), Yeo Valley yoghurts for £1 (was £1.30), Montorsi Negroni 12 month parma ham for £2 (was £4), Sainsbury’s Calamari with Lemon Ciabatta Crumb for £2.99 (was £3.99) and ready-to-eat chicken breast for £2 (was £2.49).

Finally, check out the 5 special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 23% off British fillet Butchers Cut (now £14.40 for two 5/6oz steaks) as well as 35% off gourmet chicken drumsticks (now £4.41 for six), 32% off French brie (now £13.48 for 1kg block) and 29% off Cumberland cocktail sausages (now for £6.22 for 1kg).

Tipple

Naked Wines is offering its highest rated wines for £99.99 – you get 12 bottles of wine selected because they have an average rating of 91% (works out to £8.33 per bottle). Remember you get 25% off your first order over £64.99 using a discount code from Vouchercodes.

You can save 25% on wine and champagne at Tesco Wine when you buy 6 bottles before midnight on Tuesday, 6th December.

You can save £15 on orders over £49.99 at Laithwaites Wine using the code VCODE15, valid until 31st December.

Cut-price snacks

Greggs is giving away more free food with the Daily Express – buy the paper today for a voucher entitling you to a Christmas, chocolate or lemon muffin (worth 82p), then on Saturday you can get a fresh Greggs loaf worth £1.

Also remember to sign up with Greggs and you’ll be sent a voucher for BOGOF sausage rolls, valid until 24th February 2012.

Ongoing deals:

• Last chance to visit the McCain Chip Chooser on Facebook (you’ll have to ‘like’ them first) and you’ll get a voucher for 50p off your favourite McCain chips.

Voucher codes

There are some new Pizza Hut Delivery codes for you – use VCLTENPNY for £10 off when you spend £30, VCLT5PCNF for 25% off orders of £25 or more at full price, valid until 15th January, or VCL999DXS to get any size pizza for £9.99 Monday to Thursday only.

Elsewhere you can get 25% off when you spend £25 at Papa Johns with PJES25OFF, also for the weekends only (Friday to Sunday), buy an XL pizza and get a free side order with code AAPJWTPXS and if it’s your first order, you can save 33% with code AALDN33.

There's a last chance for new customers shopping for Sainsbury's Groceries to save £10 on a £50 spend using the code MVT9-MRRF-KTC3, valid until 3rd December.

This week new customers at Tesco get £15 off when they spend £75 and use the code XXMFLP, which has been extended to 7th December. There is also an ongoing code XXMAGS1 over on HUKD saving new customers £10 when they spend £50 on groceries at Tesco but remember that certain items - including wine by the case, tobacco, infant milk formulae and prescription medicines - are not eligible for the discount.  

New Ocado shoppers spending £60 can use the Myvouchercodes.co.uk code VOU2806787 which saves you 15% until next year.

Ongoing codes at Hotel Chocolat will save you 10% on orders over £20 – use this voucher on any day of the week until 31st December.
