Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We've got lots of new and extended restaurant deals including 5 plates for £10 at Yo! Sushi, two takeaway pizzas for £10 and £5 off your food and drink bill at Pizza Express, 25% off at Slug and Lettuce, two new GBK vouchers, 2 for £10 at Bella Italia and 2 for 1 mains at Café Rouge. Plus, there is another chance to save £15 at Thorntons, new codes saving first-time grocery shoppers £15 at Tesco and Sainsbury's and free cocktails at Pitcher and Piano and Revolution Bars.

Best supermarket deals

This week we’re going to kick off with some Christmas bargains at Sainsbury’s; you can buy Maina Il Gran Panettone for £1 (was £2), it’s 2 for 1 on Mr Kipling Exceedingly Merry Deep Filled mince pies (usually £1.79 each), this own-brand Christmas chocolate log is reduced from £2.30 to only £1 and this Taste The Difference Cognac-laced Christmas pud is half-price at £6.

Sainsbury’s also has the best price of the big supermarkets for 1kg tins of Quality Street – half-price at £4 – and other deals to watch out for include Napolina spaghetti 1kg for £1 (was £2.19), 50p off Marvel Easy Peel Clementines (now £1.50) and 320g apricots (now £2.50). On to the cheese, Castello Blue is £1 (was £1.68) and it’s 2 for 1 on Seriously Strong Cheddar 400g (usually £4.39 each) and Pilgrims Choice Extra Mature 400g (usually £4.49 each).

Next up at Tesco there some big discounts on meat and fish to enjoy including Tesco pork loin steaks 500g for £3 (was £8.99), 1kg of salmon side for £10 (was £20), venison grill steaks 340g for £1.50 (was £3), Tesco Finest Italian style meatballs (15) are £1.50 (was £3) and for your sandwiches, Adams Premium cooked chicken and wafer thin ham slices are both reduced from £2.99 to £1.49.

You can also save 78p on Homebake baguettes (now £1), this Tesco Bramley apple pie is £1.12 (was £2.25), New Covent Garden Soup is 98p (was £1.97), four-packs of Princes tuna in sunflower oil are £3.49 (was £6.99), Elizabeth Shaw Mint Crisp chocolates are only £1.75 (was £3.50) and Nestle Milkybar Buttons multipacks are £1.25 (was £2.50).

Plus, spend £40 or more in store at Tesco on Friday 18th, Saturday 19th or Sunday 20th November and you will be given a coupon entiitling you to £5 off coupon at the till to use when you spend the same amount on your grocery shop next week. Or if you're shopping online, they will email you a £5 off eCoupon on Monday to redeem against a £40 spend for groceries delivered before Sunday 27th November.

Heading to Asda there are lots of great offers on chocolate treats - it is 2 for £8 on Ferrero Rocher 300g (usually £6 each), 3 for £10 on various boxed chocs such as Nestle Dairy Box, Lily O’Briens handcrafted chocolates and Toblerone Tobelle (all usually £6 each) and Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are still half-price at £1 (they cost £2.75 in Sainsbury’s). 

Other Asda bargains include McCoys Ridge Cut crisps for £2 (was £3.98), Nestle Chocapic Duo 325g for £1.96 (was £3.18), Sugar Puffs 450g for £1 (was £1.50), Sun-Pat smooth peanut butter for £1 (was £1.78) and Mattessons pork smoked sausage for £1 (was £1.70). And for your Sunday dinner 1kg Asda Extra Special British beef joint is reduced to £8 (was £10.99), while from the Extra Special range, Scottish smoked salmon 100g are reduced from £2 (was £2.98).

This week, the four half-price weekend deals at LIDL are fresh British beef rump steaks for £2.14 per 400g pack, 1.5kg of oranges for 99p, 200g Valley Spire mature blue Stilton for 74p and Fox’s Golden Crunch Creams for 49p.

Other deals include 300g of pork loin medallions for £2.49 (was £2.99), 250g of unsmoked rindless back bacon for 99p (was £1.29), loose sweet potatoes for 79p per kg (was £1.24 per kg), 1kg of carrots for 39p (was 59p) and 1kg tubs of Yogosan yoghurt for only £1.49 (was £1.79). Then look out for 1.25kg stuffed pork loin joints for £5.99 and 1kg gammon joints for only £4.99. If you're on the hunt for Christmas meat at Lidl, for £6.99 you can nab a 2.4kg Glenfell whole British duck and Glenfell oven-ready pre-basted turkeys for £9.99.

Finally, check out the 5 special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 23% off unsmoked streaky bacon (now £9.15 for a 2.27kg pack), 15% off Coppa, which is really delicious Italian cured meat, (now £12.16 for a 800g ripping roll) and 21% off wild UK venison steak (now £10.72 for two 200g steaks).

Tipple

A few of the codes for Tesco Wine have expired now but new customers can save £10 when they spend £50 and use the code XXHYFF.

You can also save £15 on orders over £49.99 at Laithwaites Wine using the code VCODE15, valid until 31st December.

Cut-price snacks

Save 50p on Frank’s Redhot sauce for a bit of kick to your food with this voucher – you have until 31st December 2011 to claim the voucher (allow up to 28 days for delivery) but can use it until 31st January 2012.

Enter your details here and you’ll be sent a voucher for 50p off your next Grove purchase, valid until 31st December 2011.

And there is still time to get 75p off any Tetley's Extra Strong tea over on the Tetley Facebook page. Or you can save 50p on Sacla sauces and pesto with this voucher, 50p on Nestle Curiously Cinammon cereal with this voucher, and 30p on Nestle Cheerios with this voucher before they all expire on 31st December.

Head to discount site Beforeishop and sign up for a free pack of Tassimo Cadbury T Discs which you can redeem at your local Morrisons when you buy another pack. You can also scroll through the supermarket list for 50p off GLORIOUS! Soups and Pasta Sauces (ends 10th July 2012), 50p off Blue Dragon Curry Pastes (ends 31st January 2012) and 50p off Blue Dragon Sauces (ends 31st December 2011).

Facebook users can still ‘Like’ the Warburton page for 30p off their next purchase of their bread or rolls. And you can still get discounted Innocent veg pots here – the more people that tweet about #tweetandeat, the cheaper you all get them. Once it’s gone as cheap as it will go you can print the coupon (and whatever level it happens to be at) and head to a store.

Voucher codes

Move quickly for another new code this week for 15% off orders over £15 at Thorntons – enter AFXM at the checkout before it expires this Sunday 20th November.

If you’ve never shopped online at Sainsburys Groceries before and you’ve got a big shop to do you can save £15 when you spend £100 using the code G4J6-VCKV-R6M6, also valid until Sunday 20th November.

Or head online to Tesco for £15 off when you spend £50 using the code XXPCT3, which again, is valid on or before 20th November. If you miss out on that, there is the ongoing code XXMM47 saving new customers £10 when they spend £50 on groceries at Tesco but remember that certain items - including wine by the case, tobacco, infant milk formulae and prescription medicines - are not eligible for the discount. Valid until 30th November.

For pizza codes, the latest Pizza Hut Delivery code saving you 50% when you spend £35 using the code VCHP11WJB which is valid until 27th November (excludes drinks and ice-cream). But don’t forget there are some older codes still going so use the right one for your order - use VCPZDELDQ for 2 for 1 pizzas with a side (add all the items to your basket first), VCP9W4YDH for 25% off orders over £25. There is also VCFP11TTS for £10 off orders from the full price menu over £25 which can be used on sides, desserts and drinks.

Elsewhere you can get 25% off when you spend £25 at Papa Johns with PJES25OFF, also for the weekends only (Friday to Sunday), buy an XL pizza and get a free side order with code AAPJWTPXS and if it’s your first order, you can save 33% with code AALDN33.

Ongoing codes at Hotel Chocolat will save you 10% on orders over £20 – use this voucher on any day of the week until 31st December. Or if you prefer Thorntons you get a free Mint Selection (250g) worth £6.99 when you spend £20, (excluding delivery and icing) using the Vouchercodes.co.uk code FMVC which is also valid until the end of the year – note you will need to add the free product to your basket (product code 0239).

New Ocado shoppers can still save £15 when they spend at least £75 and use the code VOU1146975, which is valid until 30th November.

AreYouPeckish.co.uk offers snack packs delivered to your office or home and as with its rival Graze.com you can get your first pack for free using the ongoing code peckish3.
