Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We've got new and extended restaurant deals from Pizza Express, GBK, Bella Italia, Strada, Prezzo, Ask, Café Rouge, Yates, Café Giardino, Brasserie Gerard, La Tasca, Azzuro and Auberge. Plus check out the latest lunch deal at your nearest Subway with a 6 inch sub and drink for only £3 up for grabs, save £10 on a £30 spend, or £5 on a £20 spend at Dominos, get a free Teas of the World gift set at Whittards and with the latest freebies, nab a free jar of marmite, a free sample of coffee and a free tub of Apetina feta cubes!

Best supermarket deals 

This week we’re going to kick off with the latest BOGOF deals at the Co-op – look out for lots of sweets included in the offer such as treat size Cadbury Dairy Milk Buttons, Caramel or Crunchie (usually £2.50 each), Haribo Horror Mix, Super Sour Monsters and Spooky Ghosts (usually £1 each), Nestlé Aero Bubbly desserts (usually £1.39 each) and McVitie's Penguin nine-packs (usually £1.75 each).

Other BOGOF deals are available on Capri-Sun boxes of ten (usually £3.59 each) Danepak thick cut back bacon (usually £3 each), Richmond Irish recipe thick sausages (usually £2.09 for 8 sausages), Powerade four-packs (usually £3.99 each), Quaker Oat So Simple (usually £2.39 each), Pilgrims Choice extra mature cheddar (usually £4.49 each), six-packs of Pepsi (usually £3.05 each), Real McCoy’s six-packs (usually £1.85 each).

In the half-price weekend deals at LIDL buy Scottish cooked mussels in sauce for 99p, 1.5kg of British new potatoes for 59p, 150g of Knight’s ridge cut crisps for 44p, five-packs of Jaffa Cake Bars for 65p and cooked chicken breast slices for 99p. These deals are only available on Saturday and Sunday.

Other LIDL bargains include broccoli for 49p (was 79p), 500g of sprouts for 69p (was £1), Gouda cheese slices for £1.59 (was £1.89), 540g of chicken breast fillets for £3.29 (was £3.99), 2.5L of Bourbon vanilla ice-cream for £2.99 (was £3.49), Goodfella’s pizzas for £1.21 (was £2.42) and as part of the Taste of Greece promo, Greek antipasti for £1.49 (was £1.69), 2 for £1.50 on houmous (you save 48p), feta for £1.29 and 1.65kg of green pitted olives for only £3.99.

The best buys at Sainsbury’s include 99p off Patak’s curry pastes (now £1 each), BOGOF on Nescafe Café Menu sachets (usually £2.99 each), BOGOF on Shredded Wheat 30-packs (usually £2.75 each), 2 for £3 on Alpen cereal and chocolate bar packs (usually £1.79 each), 2 for £3 on Yorkshire Tea (usually £2.28 each), 56p off 500g bags of De Cecco pasta (now £1) and 400g jars of Nutella chocolate spread for £1.42 (was £1.90).

Other Sainsbury’s bargains to keep an eye out for are selected Sacla Stir-through sauces for £1.49 (was £1.99), 2 for £2 on Hellmann’s salad dressings (usually £1.49 each), Yeo Valley organic strawberry frozen yoghurt for £1.74 (was £3.49) and McVitie’s Quirks for £1 (was £1.49).

McVitie’s Quirks are also on offer for £1 at Tesco – other chocolate bargains include 50p off these muffins and cookies (also reduced to £1), Green & Blacks organic bars for £1.69 (was £2.06), 89p off Rocky Rocks (now £1) and 3 for £5 on Terry’s Chocolate Orange (usually £2.75 each).

For other Tesco groceries, it’s BOGOF on Bramley cooking apples (usually £1.40 each), Danepak bacon (usually £3 each), Walls Classic pork sausages (usually £3 for 12 sausages), Country Life spreadable (usually £2.68 each), Laughing Cow Big Value Pack (usually £1.85 each), Princes hot dogs (usually £1.29 for 8 hot dogs) and four-packs of Napolina chopped tomatoes (usually £4.69 each). 

Next up at ASDA there are some good meat deals this week; buy a whole leg of lamb for £7 per kg (was £9.99), beef roasting joints also for £7 per kg (was £8.97), ASDA beef rump steaks for £10 per kg (was £12) and boneless pork legs for £3 per kg (was £5.97).

There are also lots of offers on the ASDA Special range including fresh ready meals such as meatballs with paprika spiced potatoes and four cheese macaroni for £2 (was up to £3.12), conserves for £1 (was £1.38), chicken stock for £1 (was £1.28) and Scottish whole rolled oats which have also been reduced from £1.28 to £1.

Finally, check out the 5 special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which include 20% off 100% British steak mince (now £6.34 for 1kg), 23% off boneless pork loin (now £12.96 for a 2.5kg joint) and 15% off Aberdeen Angus Sirloin steak (now £24.36 for a 1kg joint).

Tipple

If you’re shopping at Sainsbury’s this weekend look out for a host of half-price wines such as San Pedro 35 South Latitude Chardonnay Semillon (now £4.74), Carta Roja Gran Reserva (now £5.99), Marques de Montoya Cava Rosé Brut (now £5.99) and Mondelli Pinot Grigio (now £4.49). If you’re shopping online these must be delivered by 11th October.

For spirits, Sa is offering 1L bottles of Baileys for £15.83 (was £19.79), Tia Maria for £6.69 (was £8.19), 1L bottles of Absolut vodka for £20 (was £24.40), Morgans Spiced Dark Rum for £12.53 (was £15.97) and Gordon’s Sloe Gin for £13.91 (was £17.39).

Tesco Wine is offering half-price cases of Isla Negra Chilean wines and Hardy’s Crest and Sparkling wines. You can also save 50% on the wines of the week; The Post Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc (now £33), Lagunilla Reserva Rioja (now £36), Cesarini Sforza Cuvee Brut Riserva (now £45) and Leo Deviroy Brut NV Champagne (now £84).

Cut-price snacks

Head to your nearest Subway for a new offer of a 6-inch sub sandwich and medium drink for only £3 – you would usually pay up to £3.59 for the sarnie and up to £1.59 for the drink so you can save up to £2.18. This offer is available everyday with no need for a voucher. The subs you can choose from are chicken tikka, meatball marinara, turkey breast and ham, Italian B.M.T, tuna, ham, spicy Italian or veggie delite.

From last week…Burger King vouchers have been released saving you up to £20. There are BOGOF vouchers for Whoppers and Bacon Double Cheeseburgers, Chicken Tendercrisp and Chicken Royales, Wraps, Angus burgers, large King Nuggets and BK Fusions. Plus get a kid's meal for only £1.99 and free fries and drink with an adult burger. All vouchers are valid until 1st November.

Voucher codes

New for Dominos fans this week, save £10 when you spend £30 online using the code VKYQJYLM at the checkout. Or, get £5 off a £20 spend using the code MTAQUYBK. Both codes are valid until midnight Sunday 16th October

There is also a new code for Pizza Hut Delivery saving you 50% when you spend £35 using the code VCHP11WJB which is valid until 27th November (excludes drinks and ice-cream).

But don’t forget there are some older codes still going so use the right one for your order - use VCPZDELDQ for 2 for 1 pizzas with a side (add all the items to your basket first), VCP9W4YDH for 25% off orders over £25. There is also VCFP11TTS for £10 off orders from the full price menu over £25 which can be used on sides, desserts and drinks.

Elsewhere you can get 25% off when you spend £25 at Papa Johns with PJES25OFF, also for the weekends only (Friday to Sunday), buy an XL pizza and get a free side order with code AAPJWTPXS and if it’s your first order, you can save 33% with code AALDN33.

Another new one over at Whittard too with a free Teas of the World gift set (worth £20) when you spend £30 and use the code TEA30.

If you’re a new Tesco grocery shoppers enter the code XX3PKK when you spend at least £50 and you’ll earn 1,000 Clubcard points (offer ends 31st October). You can also use the code XXXNGP at the checkout (valid until 30th September) for £10 off when you spend £50 on groceries at Tesco as a new customer – but remember that certain items - including wine by the case, tobacco, infant milk formulae and prescription medicines - are not eligible for the discount.

New Ocado shoppers can still save £15 when they spend at least £75 and use the code VOU1146975, which is valid until 30th November.

AreYouPeckish.co.uk offers snack packs delivered to your office or home and as with its rival Graze.com you can get your first pack for free using the ongoing code peckish3.
