Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We’ve got new and extended restaurant deals from The Real Greek, Miller and Carter, Toby Carvery, Chef and Brewer and Zizzi. Plus, dine in for two for £10 at M&S this weekend, grab free fish and chips at BHS stores on Monday only, download the latest booklet of 2 for 1 vouchers for Burger King, buy bargain French booze in the Taste of France promotion at Lidl, save 20% at Approved Food today only, save 25% on any order at Whittard and grab a free bag of Walkers crisps on Facebook!

Best supermarket deals 

This week we’re going to kick off with the latest Dine in for Two for £10 offer at Marks & Spencer. Available mains are all from The Cook Menu range, including some new dishes such as King Prawn Risotto, Chicken Coq au Vin, Beef & Ale Pie, Trout Stuffed with Crab and Crusted Seabass. There is a new dessert too – the Rhubarb Raspberry Cobbler – as well as the usual fabourites Millionaires Shortbread, Tarte au Citron Slices and Sicilian Lemon Cheesecake Slices.

Over at Tesco, make the most of The Big Price Drop promo with items across the supermarket discounted. Sometimes you’re only saving a few pence but with so many everyday goods on offer you could save a packet if you’re doing a weekly shop. Here are some of the best offers: for veggies,look out for Tesco Finest Supersweet Sweetcorn for £1.24 (was £1.99), 200g of baby carrots and shiitake mushrooms for £1.35 (was £1.50), peppers for 63p (was 70p) and pak choi for £1.12 (was £1.25).

If you have a big family you can buy three 370g blocks of Pilgrim’s Choice Mature Cheddar for the price of one (£4.07) and a 3kg bag of conchiglie pasta for £2 (was £3.85). And, for a treat, both the Margherita and Sloppy Giuseppe are half-price at £2, Jaffa Cakes are 59p (was 65p) and chocolate digestives are 69p (was 86p).

Next up at Sainsbury’s you can also buy one of three 8” Pizza Express pizzas (Margherita, Sloppy Giuseppe and Original American) for £2. Or, check out the latest deals on various Birds Eye frozen goods including 50% off 12-packs of Omega 3 fish fingers (now £1.24) and two-packs of Simply extra large fish fillets in batter (now £1.49), and 99p off four-packs of chicken chargrills and Southern fried chicken (both now £2 each).

Until 18th October it is also 2 for £3.50 on selected HP and Heinz products, including four-packs of Baked Beans (usually £2.49 each), and Spaghetti (usually £2.29 each), Heinz Ketchup (usually £2.25 each), HP Brown Sauce Top Down (usually £1.99 each) and Heinz Salad Cream (usually £2.38 each).

If you want some lunch box bargains try Premier Deli breaded ham and Red Lion Foods corned beef, both reduced from £3 to £1.50 and chuck in some seedless white grapes, reduced from £4.98 per kg to £3.50, or some seedless red grapes which are a bit cheaper at £3 per kg.

Heading to ASDA, the top food bargains include Wall’s Carte D’Or ice-cream for only £2 (was £3.45) – in both Tesco and Sainsbury’s these are only on a 2 for £5 offer. You can also save 70p on Mattessons smoked pork sausage (now £1), £3 on tins of Cadbury Heroes (now £5) and for just 50p you can grab loose cauliflowers (was 84p), three large onions (was 94p), broccoli (was 87p) , 500g of parsnips (was 98p) and four baking potatoes (was 70p).

It’s also 2 for £2 on other spuds including 750g bags of organic baby potatoes (was £1.17), 1.5kg bags of organic potatoes (was £1.24) and 2.5kg of white potatoes (was £1.35).

The half-price weekend deals at LIDL are a steal – get 300g British pork loin medallions for £1.39, 1kg of onions for 34p, 1.5L cartons of Vitafit apple juice for 56p and 500g of McVitie’s Digestives for 54p – only available Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd Oct.

Other deals not to be missed are 375g packs of chicken breast mini fillets for £2.49 (was £2.99), 10 Funsize pears for 79p (was 99p), twin-packs of smoked bacon lardoons for £1.59 (was £1.89) and, to celebrate National Cheese Week save £1 on both Mull of Kintyre Scottish mature cheddar and Pembrokeshire mature cheddar, now £1.99 each, and save 70p on Valley Spire Farmhouse mature cheddar, now £2.29.

Finally, check out the 5 special offers this week from online gourmet butcher Westin Gourmet which includes 20% off 100% British steak mince (now £6.34 for 1kg), 23% off boneless pork loin (now £12.96 for a 2.5kg joint) and 15% off Aberdeen Angus Sirloin steak (now £24.36 for a 1kg joint).

Tipple

There are a host of French delights on special offer at LIDL to celebrate the Taste of France promotion. As well as lots of food, you can sample Grand Courbet V.S.O.P at the special price of £10.99, Crème de Cassis for £6.99, Coeur de Comte orange liqueur for £10.99, Courvoisier cognac for £19.49 and Pastis aperitif for £14.99. Only while stocks last so don’t miss out if you love French tipple.

For something a little cheaper, Cotes de Rhones Villages red wine is only £4.49, it’s 2 for £7 on Minervois wine, Cidre de Normandie Brut are £1.99 each (75cl) and its 2 for £3 on Kronenbourg Premium beer (usually £1.79 each).

There is still time to save on wine online at Marks and Spencer in the end of season sale with up to a third off and you can still save 25% on all Rioja at Waitrose Wine Direct including Baron de Ley, Club Privado 2008, now £73.80 for a case of 12 (£6.15 per bottle), Cune 2006 Reserva, now £102.48 for a case of 12 (£8.54 per bottle) and Muga Rosado 2010, now £72.48 for 12 (£6.04 per bottle). Offer ends 4th October.

Cut-price snacks

Get £20 worth of treats from participating BHS stores including free fish and chips on Monday 3rd October. Print off this voucher which features 6 deals; 2 for 1 breakfasts, 2 for 1 hot meals, 2 for 1 jacket potatoes, 2 for 1 sandwiches/paninis, a free Danish with large hot drink – these are all available until 8th October but the best deal by far is the free fish and chips which is only available on Mondays so don’t miss out!

A new batch of Burger King vouchers has just been released saving you up to £20. There are BOGOF vouchers for Whoppers and Bacon Double Cheeseburgers, Chicken Tendercrisp and Chicken Royales, Wraps, Angus burgers, large King Nuggets and BK Fusions. Plus get a kid's meal for only £1.99 and free fries and drink with an adult burger. All vouchers are valid until 1st November.

From last week…get £1 off your next purchase of 500g Honey Shreddies with this voucher valid until 31st December 2011 and sign up to the Campbell’s Soup newsletter to become a Campbell’s Favourite, and they will send you a money-off voucher towards a tin of their soup.

Then visit the Krispy Kreme Facebook page for 2 for 1 doughnuts until Sunday 2nd October. Simply enter your name and email address and wait for the voucher to be sent to you. This offer is valid on Glamour Glaze doughnuts only and is not available at Tesco, Moto, WHSmiths and Welcome Break. Feel free to print the voucher as many times as you like, but you will only be able to use it once per day.

Voucher codes

If you’ve never shopped online at Approved Food before, now is the time to do so – they sell clearance and out of ‘best before’ date stock at discounted prices, but if you shop today use the code AP20 to save another 20%. 

A new and improved code for Whittard today, this time you can save 25% on absolutely any order using the promo code BREW25 at the checkout.

And from last week…Get £15 off when you spend £60 as a new customer at Tesco Wine – use the code XPRKN from Vouchercodes.co.uk which expires 25th September. 

If you’re a new Tesco grocery shoppers enter the code XX3PKK when you spend at least £50 and you’ll earn 1,000 Clubcard points (offer ends 31st October). You can also use the code XXXNGP at the checkout (valid until 30th September) for £10 off when you spend £50 on groceries at Tesco as a new customer. But remember that certain items - including wine by the case, tobacco, infant milk formulae and prescription medicines - are not eligible for the discount.

Other ongoing codes include Tang for 25% off tea orders at Birt and Tang, expires 30th September. You can get 10% off when you spend at least £20 at Hotel Chocolat – use the code VCSUM10 before 2nd October.

Then check the latest Pizza Hut codes, taking care to use the right one for your order; use VCPZDELDQ for 2 for 1 pizzas with a side (add all the items to your basket first), VCP9W4YDH for 25% off orders over £25 which expire 9th October. There is also the code VCFP11TTS for £10 off orders from the full price menu over £25 (expires 27th November).

Elsewhere you can get 25% off when you spend £25 at Papa Johns with PJES25OFF, also for the weekends only (Friday to Sunday), buy an XL pizza and get a free side order with code AAPJWTPXS and if it’s your first order, you can save 33% with code AALDN33.

New Ocado shoppers can still save £15 when they spend at least £75 and use the code VOU1146975, which is valid until 30th November.
