Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We’ve got new and extended restaurant deals from Ask, Pizza Hut, Slug and Lettuce, Strada, Prezzo, Zizzi, Pizza Express and Miller and Carter. Plus, grab meal deals at Ocado, check out the latest Super Six bargains at Aldi, get free ice cream at Domino’s, save 50% at Whittard and Thorntons, grab a free punnet of fruit with Anchor Squirty Cream, a free glass of wine at Vintage Inns and enter this week’s competition to win a cookery class for two!

Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food.

Best supermarket deals

This week we’re going to kick off with the Super 6 at Aldi – from now until 2nd July you can get 200g of cherries, melon, seven funsize bananas, 400g of plums, seven funsize apples and 450g of large vine tomatoes, all for just 69p each.

The top meat deals at Aldi this week are quarter pounders for £1.49 per pack (saving you 40p) and an unsmoked back bacon twin pack for £1.99 (saving you 50p). Other deals to look out for are American style pancakes for £1.19, Twiglets (150g bags) for 99p, Bruschetta Snack Breads for 79p and BBQ spray oils for £1.19.

Current food offers at LIDL include huge 1kg packs of pork medallions on a 2 for £10 offer (usually £5.99 per pack), 400g packs of diced British beef for £2.49 (was £2.89), a beef roasting joint for £3.99 per kg (was £6.99) and gammon joints for £3.99 - each with 20% extra for free.

Other items that have been increased in size (look out for XXL deals) include Crusti Croc crisps (now 30 packs for £2.39), Weetos for £1.99 with 60% extra for free, marshmallows for 69p with 50% extra for free and Combino spaghetti for 55p with 50% extra for free.

NETTO’s best buys this week are 500g of Chinese flavoured thin cut pork steaks for £2.99,  2.5kg of English new potatoes for £1.49, 2 for £1.50 on Blakeleys tomato ketchup and brown sauce (usually 95p each), 175ml of extra virgin olive oil for £1.79 and 6-packs of Five Alive Citrus and Tropical for only £2 each.

Then from Monday, look for 3 for £2 on selected Pot Noodles (usually 99p each), 2 for £3.50 on chicken thighs and drumsticks (usually £2 each), and cucumbers now even cheaper than last week at 29p each!

At Ocado there are three meal deals to make the most of; the BBQ Vegetable Kebab £5 Bundle (you get peppers, mushroom, onions and skewers for £5), the Healthy Spinach & Mushroom Omelette (you save £1 when you buy eggs, spinach and mushrooms) and the Curry Side Dish Deal (you save 15% when you buy two fresh tandoori naan breads, Bombay potatoes and pilau rice).

This week’s best deals at Tesco include various Sacla pesto sauces for £1.59 (down from £1.99) – choose from chargrilled aubergine, classic green basil, fiery chilli, roasted red pepper, sundried tomato and wild rocket.

If you’re planning a big breakfast, stick with Tesco to buy two dozen-egg cartons for £3 (saving you £2), a 1kg tub of Flora for £3 (saving you 80p), 12 Warburtons Crumpets for £1.40 (saving you 30p) and 1.5L of Tropicana Pure Premium Orange Juice for £2.10 (saving you 61p).

If you want to buy 1L cartons of Tropicana instead, head to Sainsbury’s where they are on offer at 2 for £3 (in other supermarkets you pay £3.50 for two) – this includes the usual orange juice as well as mango, peach and papaya juice or golden grapefruit.

Also at Sainsbury’s, save £1.50 on this Farmhouse Luxury Sticky Toffee Pudding (reduced to £2), save £1 on this Taste the Difference Lemon Crème Brule Cheesecake, which is now £5 and buy packs of Sainsbury’s Basics white pitta bread for a mere 18p (was 25p).

Over at ASDA for only £1 each you can buy two coconuts (usually 57p each), half a dozen large free range eggs from The Happy Egg Company (usually £1.90), Alpra Soya Milk Natural Yoghurt (usually £1.37) and various Nestle cereals including 375g Cheerios (usually £1.93), 360g Shredded Wheat (usually £1.69), 500g Honey Nut Shredded Wheat (usually £1.98) and 500g Shreddies (usually £1.98).

Plus, ASDA beef frying steak has been reduced from to £7 per kg, beef roasting joints are now £5 per kg (was £8.98 per kg) and whole legs of lamb are now £7 per kg (was £8.98 per kg).

Tipple

At the Co-op it’s BOGOF on Carlsberg Export/Tuborg lager bottles (4x275ml) which are £5/30 each (offer available until 12th July), four packs of Corona Extra bottles are reduced from £5.39 to £4 and you can save £4.50 on bottles of Crow's Landing the Quill Shiraz/Chardonnay Reserve (now £4.49).

Other Co-op booze deals include a taste of Wimbledon at home with a bottle of Pimm’s for only £10 (was £15.45), £1 off their own-brand Australian sparkling brut (now £5.99) and £4 off bottles of Les Pionniers Champagne, now £13.99.

Bubbly fans should head to Majestic Wine where you can buy Lanson Black Label Champagne for £19.99 (was £26) until Monday 27th June only. Or save 20% when you buy any two bottles of Beaujolais, Chilean wine, Australian wine, Italian wine and New Zealand wine.

Cut-price snacks

There’s a new treat for Fridays at Dominos Pizza with free ice cream up for grabs starting from today. All you have to do is spend £20 online on a Friday and you’ll get a 500ml tub of Ben & Jerry’s ice cream absolutely free! Choose from Caramel Chew Chew, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Cookie Dough and Phish Food.

There is an ongoing sale at Whittard with up to 50% off selected items for tea and coffee lovers. Or if you’re more of a chocolate addict, go to Thorntons where you can also save 50% on various sweet treats.

Voucher codes

At Whisk Hampers (which sells great gifts for foodies) you can save 5% on your order with the code picnicsun, valid until 31st July 2012.

Plus, you can still save £5 on every order at My M&Ms with an exclusive code from Myvouchercodes.co.uk, valid until 30th June.

For supermarket savings, you get £10 off your first grocery order over £50 at Tesco when you use the code XXT4HM until 30th June, but just bear in mind that certain items - including wine by the case, tobacco, infant milk formulae and prescription medicines - are not eligible for the discount.

For first-time Ocado shoppers, save £15 when you spend at least £75 using the code VOU1146975, valid until 30th November – but if you only spend £40 you can save 20% with the code VOU9940010, valid until 30th June.

Ongoing pizza codes include 25% off when you spend £25 at Papa Johns with PJES25OFF, also for the weekends only (Friday to Sunday), buy an XL pizza and get a free side order with code AAPJWTPXS, and if it’s your first order, you can save 33% with code AALDN33. Or get 25% off when you spend £25 or more at Dominos Pizza with code RBRKEDUN until 30th June.

There are various Pizza Hut codes to enjoy this week; use VCHTENPHY for £10 off a £25 order, VCHDELPPU for BOGOF on pizzas and VCHFIFTBK for 50% off when you spend more than £30 – all valid until 26th June.
