Welcome to this week's edition of Frugal Food. We've got new and extended restaurant deals from iL Bertorelli, Frankie and Benny's, Caffe Uno, The Real Greek and Pizza Hut. Plus it's Dine In for Two for £10 time at Marks and Spencer, you can buy a three-bird roast for £9.99 at Aldi, a whole duck for £3.99 per kg at Sainsbury's, or save up to 50% on Rioja at Tesco Wine, grab a free cocktail at Pitcher & Piano and a free one-month Tastecard, saving you 50% at restaurants all over the UK!

Best supermarket deals

This week, we’re going to kick off with the Dine in for Two for £10 at Marks & Spencer. As usual, pick a starter, main, dessert and bottle of wine to share with a loved one for only £10. The offer runs until Tuesday 19th April.

This time mains include rotisserie chicken, salmon en croute, spinach and beef roulades and for the pud, there is a hot cross bun dessert, tiramisu traybake and raspberry panna cotta to name just a few. See the full menu here.

Next up is ASDA which is selling Lindt Gold Bunny (100g) treats for £2 – other supermarkets are charging £5 for two – and two Cadbury Crème Eggs for 70p (usually 50p each), which again is cheaper than the two for 80p deal in both Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

Other deals include 2 for £2 on a dozen Asda British Free Range large eggs, saving you £2, a 100ml bottle of Napolina Special Selection extra virgin olive oil for £3, down from £6.49, and any 2 for £1 on various Rajah spices.

At Tesco there are 3 for 2 deals on various cupboard foods including Uncle Ben’s 500g jars, Amoy Stir-Fry sauces (from 74p each), and Sacla pasta sauce jars (£1.99 each).

It’s also 2 for 1 on Cheesestrings (£2.42 each), only £2 for a 12-pack of Bird’s Eye 100% haddock or cod fish fingers, down from £2.49. For something healthier, a bag of Tesco Gala apples has 47p off at £1 and you can buy roughly 650g of Tesco seedless green grapes for £1.45, reduced from £2.91.

LIDL’s best offers include a half-price British pork leg joint, now £2.99 per kg, and half-price tins of John West salmon, now £1.49 each – both available this weekend only.

Also at Lidl, look out for 49p cucumber, 20p off Salzbrezlen pretzels (now 49p per pack), 30p off jars of Freshone gherkins (now £1.09) and 60p off jars of giant hot dogs and bockwurst (now £1.99 each).

Over at Aldi there are some great prices on Easter meat including a 1.5kg three-bird roast for £9.99 (turkey, chicken and duck), salmon wellington for £3.99 and 1kg of roast potatoes in goose fat for £1.29.

In the latest Aldi Super 6 deals you can get a 2.5kg bag of white potatoes, 450g of large vine tomatoes and a 6-pack of oranges for a fantastic 69p each. Or, grab 1kg of carrots, cucumber and 350g of broccoli, all for an even cheaper 39p each!

At Sainsbury’s, top offers include half-price Montorsi Negroni 12-month parma ham, now £1.99, a whole leg of lamb (approx 1.93kg) for £12.85, down from £19.28, 20p off 1kg of carrots, now £1, and a whole Gressingham duck (approx 2.4kg) for £3.99 per kg, down from £7.99 per kg.

You can also buy 240 PG tips Pyramid tea bags for £4, saving you £1.45, a Morello cherry tart for £2 (was £2.50), and Taste the Difference cheese muffins and spiced fruit muffins for £1, saving you 25p per pack.

Finally, the best deals at NETTO include 240 Typhoo tea bags for £3, was £3.79, tinned peach slices for 29p and 2 for £2 on Heinz Big Soup beef stew and dumplings or chicken and vegetable casserole. Then for this weekend only, buy a belly pork joint for £3.99 per kg and BOGOF on Just Bacon Applewood smoked or sweetcured rindless back bacon (only £1.50 each).

And, from Monday, look for 6-packs of Muller Biscuit, Fruit and Greek Corners which are better than half-price at £1.49 each (was £3.29). Also, it’s BOGOF on both 14-pack bags of Walkers French Fries and Monster Munch, which are normally £2.99 each, and 400g blocks of Seriously Strong Red Cheddar, which are normally £4 each.

Tipple

 At Tesco Wine this week there are discounts of up to 50% on Rioja, including a case of Lagunilla Gran Reserva 2003, reduced from £90 per case to £45 per case. A case of Sancerre, Feuille de Vigne is also half-price at £45 a case, working out to £7.50 a bottle, and a case of Tesco Finest Tapiwey Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is £28.50, down from £51.24.

Heading to Oddbins, buy two bottles of non-vintage Champagne and save 20%. Prices start from £15.19 per bottle (down from £18.99 per bottle) for Philippe Guidon Brut NV, or splash out a bit more cash for Taittinger Brut Prestige Rose which is reduced from £44.99 to £35.99 when you buy two bottles.

Majestic Wine is still offering 20% off when you buy two bottles of either Spanish wine or South African wine.

Sign up with Pitcher & Piano for a free ‘Tiki Twist’ cocktail or San Miguel pint - offer ends Saturday 30th April. You’ll be sent an email with links to your voucher which you simply hand over at the bar.

Also, new website for National Wine Month in May www.maketimeforwine.org has an online do-it-yourself test, which asks Brits to taste sweet, acidic and tannic liquids using sugar, lemon and teabags, and be part of the UK Tongue Map. Also from 1 May there will be daily prizes up for grabs.

Cut price snacks

Head to the Greggs website to celebrate Easter and win one of 50,000 Greggs vouchers and party bags. Online parties will be held on 20th, 21st, 26th, 27th and 28th April so on these days, visit the site to be in with a chance.

The latest offers at Poundland include After Eights, a 6-pack of Cadbury Fudge Bars and a 10-bag pack of Mini Cheddars for £1 each. Plus get 2 for £1 on Mikado milk chocolate straws and buy 3 Easter eggs (for £1 each of course) and get another one for free!

And, there’s still time to get Millie’s Cookies vouchers for deals including six cookies with six free, plus BOGOF on treatboxes, small hot drinks and small combos. The vouchers expire on 31st April.

Voucher codes

Save 25% and get free delivery at Whittard with the code WC24P which expires 30th May. This code works on any order so make the most of any orders such as 3 for 2 on instant teas and hot chocolates.

There’s a new code for new Ocado customers to get £15 off their first shop when they spend at least £75. Use the code VOU1146975 at the checkout.

Tesco has extended its offer for £10 off your first online grocery shop. To get the discount, you’ll need to spend at least £50 and enter the code XXAFFT at the checkout, for delivery made before 31st May. Just bear in mind that certain items - including wine by the case, tobacco, infant milk formulae and prescription medicines - are not eligible for the discount.

And, you can still save 10% at Hotel Chocolat when you spend £25 using code MYSPG11 which expires 30 April. Or, sign up for the Moko Chocolates newsletter and you’ll be sent a code for 10% off their products.
