Welcome to this week’s edition of Frugal Food. Let’s kick things off straight away with the best grocery deals around.
Best supermarket deals
This week, I’m going to start with the best deals at Sainsbury’s. There’s a 2 for 1 offer on six-packs of Muller Fruit Corner/Muller Crunch Corner yoghurts, meaning you can 12 pots for £2.89.
12 rashers of Danish Sizzling unsmoked bacon are down from £4 to £2; and 12 Butcher’s Choice pork sausages are still reduced from £1.99 to 99p.
Ten Birds Eye fish fingers are half-price, at 99p. And finally, 400g boxes of Quality Street are also 50% off, at £1.99 each.
At Tesco, 100g punnets of blackberries are still reduced from £2.99 to £1 each.
There are 2 for 1 deals on 400g packs of Pilgrims Choice extra mature Cheddar, various multi-packs of Activia yogurt and Petits Filous, and a range of Loyd Grossman pasta sauces.
Over at ASDA, top deals include a better-than-half-price offer on Whitworths Premium dried fruit mix. 250g packs are usually £1.78 - but you can currently pick up two packs for £1.50.
These 1kg jars of pear slices are still better-than-half-price, too - down from £1.71 to 50p each. And 18-packs of McCoy’s Variety Classic crisps have been reduced right down from £4.38 to £1.98. Finally, Terry’s milk chocolate oranges are still half-price, at £1 each.
Morrisons has come up with a ‘Dine In’ meal deal to rival M&S’ and Tesco’s offerings: For £8, you can now choose a soup, one main meal, one side dish, one custard, one dessert and two bottles of beer. You can find all the details here.
At the Co-op, you can now get two Birds Eye crispy chicken breasts for £1, down from £2.29.
LIDL deals include whole cauliflowers for 39p, 400g of strawberries for £1, and 400g packs of Cathedral City Mature yet Mellow Cheddar for £1.74.
And finally, bargains at NETTO include boxes of Ferrero Rocher for £2, five-packs of Kit-Kats and Toffee Crisp bars for £1, and 200g jars of Nescafe Classico for £2.49.
Tipple
At ASDA, you can currently pick up 1l bottles of Pimm’s for £10, down from £19.97.
Marks & Spencer is offering 25% off a range of award-winning wines, to celebrate winning over 200 awards for wine already this year.
And you can still get a free Jack Daniels drink (25ml spirit plus mixer) at your nearest Pitcher & Piano when you register here and print the voucher.
The offer runs every day until 5th October, and you can choose from JD and Ginger, JD and Cola or JD and Apple Jack.
The Co-op is still running its wine festival, with 50% off certain red, white and rose wines.
And finally, you can still get a free bottle of WKD when you buy another at a Yate’s pub. Just sign up here, and present the voucher at your local branch.

Cut price snacks
Buy the Daily Mirror on any day up to and including Sunday (26th September) and you’ll find a voucher to exchange for a free item of food from NETTO.
To give you an idea of what’s on offer, 24th September is a Schweppes mineral water, 25th September is a small pack of Pringles, and 26th September is a four-pint carton of milk.
Just remember that each voucher is only valid on the day it’s published in the paper.
Alternatively, hunt down October’s issue of Glamour magazine and bag a free coffee voucher (amongst several others for non-food items).
The voucher entitles you to a free latte at Coffee Republic, and is valid from 4th to 10th October.
Voucher codes
There’s a good promotion currently running at Tesco Wine, which means you can get 50% off plus 500 extra Clubcard points.
Choose the wine you want in the Tesco Wine online sale - then enter the code XXDLGV at the check-out to get the 500 points.
New and existing customers can take advantage of the deal - but you’ll need to order at least 12 bottles of wine (two crates) and place the order before 3rd October.
You can still get £10 off your first online grocery shop with Tesco when you enter the code XXAFFT at the checkout.
You’ll need to spend at least £50 to qualify for the discount (not including delivery charges) and have your shopping delivered before or on 30th September.
