You may get a text claiming to be from the Ofcom Communications Team, asking for your personal details. It's a scam!

New Ofcom text message scam

A new text message scam has emerged, with the fraudsters posing as the communications regulator Ofcom.

The text calls on recipients to click on the contained website address and enter their personal details. It comes from a six digit number, and is signed Ofcom Communications Team.

It should go without saying that this is a scam. Organisations like Ofcom will never ask for you to provide your personal details in this way, whether through a text message or email.

If you receive an email like this, make sure you report it to Action Fraud by going to the Action Fraud website or calling 0300 123 2040. And if you have been caught out by the scam and submitted your details, contact the Information Commissioners Office on 0303 123 1113 or the ICO website.

Ofcom itself is little short of a scam. As owner of a telecoms business with twenty years under our belts, we no longer bother to contact Ofcom about the scams going on within the industry as they are not interested.
