Know your online rights
49% of people don't know or understand their rights when shopping online. That's a shame as online shoppers actually have more consumer rights than buyers on the high street.
Too many consumers are in the dark when it comes to their online shopping rights. That's according to a new survey by LateRooms.com. Apparently 49% of people don't realise that online shoppers are better protected than their high street bretheren.
That's a shame because online shopping has a big advantage over the high street. If you buy something on the high street and there's absolutely nothing wrong the product, the retailer isn't obliged to help you in any way if you decide the next day that you don't want the product after all. But if you buy something online - or via old-fashioned mail order - you have a seven day 'cooling-off' period. If you return your purchase during that time, you can get a full refund. Brilliant!
We've been banging on about this for a while now at lovemoney.com - here's one example - but clearly the message hasn't reached everyone yet. So tell your mates and spread the word!
