I'm going to win £15,000!

I've entered a free fantasy fund manager game. If you want to win, you have to believe in yourself, so I know I'm going to come top and walk away with £15,000.

I’ve just spent an enjoyable hour entering Skandia’s Fantasy Fund Football game. It’s a competition where you pick your ten favourite investment funds and watch their performance over the next five months. If your ‘team’ of funds performs better than all the other teams, you’ll win £15,000! There are also prizes for runners-up and monthly champions. 

I’ve picked the following selection of funds with help from Citywire’s Fund Selection tool:

M&G Global Basics 

AXA Framlington UK Select Opportunities 

Artemis Strategic Assets 

M&G Global Basics 

Aberdeen Ethical World

If you want to pick a team too, you better get cracking as the game begins at 10 AM on Wednesday.

And if you're tempted to invest with real money, please don't go off and invest blindly in my choices. As I said, I only spent an hour picking my funds! 

And anyway, I’d always recommend readers to focus most of their investment capital on index tracker funds. That’s because index trackers are much cheaper than actively managed funds which require expensive fund managers. Index trackers also normally outperform most active funds. 

You can only pick active funds for the Skandia competition, but heck, that doesn’t worry me. I’m following the advice of self-help gurus and believing in myself. I know that I’m going to win £15k for an hour’s work.
