The MoneyTrack iphone app has been submitted
We delighted to announce that our iphone application has been submitted to Apple.
The app development has been a long and tortuous process, which has included a couple of changes of project personnel, a number of design/feature changes and a near total re-architecture of the code from the ground up after a routine internal code review. The reason being that we really wanted to ensure that the code was fullly tested, very robust and secure before releasing to users.
This app is for iphone, simply because right now there are a far higher proportion of iphone users browsing on the lovemoney site right now than any other mobile platform. But that doesn't mean we've forgotten about other platforms; at the same time as developing this app we have also been working on the MoneyTrack v2 project. This is written in such a way that spinning off apps for Android & Windows Phone will be a relatively smooth process. We will post more about the upcoming features in v2 once it is closer to release.
The team here are very excited. Having been using the application for some time, we are all finding it particularly useful on a day to day basis to keep track of our spending and we really think you will like it too. In terms of feature set for this v1 app we've focussed on keeping it as simple as possible, so it's targetted at viewing, categorising and tracking your spending while on the go. Extended features like budgeting and analysis will continue to be available on the website.
We are now in the hands of Apple and the application approval process, we will keep you posted as soon as we have more news. In the meantime here are a few screenshots as a taster:
