A new way to buy your Christmas presents!

If you’re looking for a few bargains this Christmas, check out this new way to buy your gifts...

With Christmas just around the corner, you might be contemplating what to buy your family and friends this year.

Of course, with money tight for many of us, I wouldn't be surprised if you're feeling a little concerned about spending too much money.

But while most of us know that the key to getting a good deal is by shopping around, there is a slightly different way to do your shopping.

Try a penny auction

Biddi.com is a penny auction website that allows you to place bids on certain items such as iPads, cameras, laptops and satnavs. Each bid placed on an item increases its price by one penny and extends the end time of the auction by 30 or 45 seconds. Whoever has the highest bid when the clock stop, wins!

This means if you’re lucky enough, you could get a brand new iPhone or TV for a bargain price. One lucky person has already won an Apple iPod touch for just £3.86, a saving of 97%, while another won a Canon Digital Ixus for just 7p – instead of £96.90. You can view all finished auctions here.

Bear in mind, however, you will have to pay 50p to place each bid. You can buy your bids in packages. These start from 15 bids for £7.50, going all the way up to 650 bids for £250.

But the great thing about Biddi.com is that even if you don’t win your prize, you can still buy the item at a bargain price. All items on the website are cheaper than at leading stores such as Amazon, play.com and Argos. So you’ll know you’re still getting a good deal. What’s more, the price of any bids you’ve already placed on the item will be deducted from the total cost so you won’t lose out.

Of course, if you are planning to use a penny auction site such as Biddi.com make sure you only spend what you can afford - don’t buy a bid package if you know it’s beyond your price range. What’s more, you should only bid on items you really want to buy. Otherwise you could end up paying for something you don't need and remember you'll also have had to pay 50p for each bid you placed.

You may also find it a little time-consuming to place bid after bid, but if you’re prepared to have some patience you really can save a lot of money. Biddi.com is promising guaranteed availability and delivery before Christmas and the lowest Christmas price on all items!

So if you fancy buying your Christmas presents a different way this year and you’re prepared to take a bit of a gamble, why not have a go?

If you're Christmas shopping on a budget...I'd seriously recommend looking on your local Freecycle (or similar) site.

You'd be amazed what fabulous goodies people are happy to give away!

This year, I've collected a nearly new (used once then left in dry shed all year!) bike which will be my granddaughter's main Christmas prezzie, & am about to go collect a light-up pogo stick...also destined for the same child!

Also worth investigating is local 'ebay style' sites?

My older grandson, will be the proud recipient of a Roboraptor on the 25th! It's perfect & cost me a fraction of the prices on Ebay! &no postage costs!!

Good for the planet too...less stuff going in landfill...Yes-people really do send perfectly useable things to the tip!

    Happy Christmas & happy recycling!
