Rent it out!
If you’re looking for a bit of extra cash, have you ever thought about doing a spot of renting?
If you're looking for a bit of extra cash, have you ever thought about doing a spot of renting? Here are six things you can rent out to give yourself a bit of extra spending money!
1) Rent a room!
Probably the most obvious option is to rent out your spare room (if you have one). If you don't mind having someone else living in your home, this can be a great little money earner.
The government's Rent a Room scheme means you can receive up to £4,250 tax-free from taking in a lodger! Not bad, hey? So if you fancy advertising your spare room, check out Easyroommate or Gumtree. And if you'd prefer not to have someone living with you at weekends, don't panic - MondaytoFriday allows you to rent out your room solely during the working week.

2) Rent your driveway!
Got a driveway you don't really use? Well, don't waste it - rent it! Good websites to check out include LetMePark, YourParkingSpace and ParkatmyHouse - all of which match motorists looking for parking with homeowners who have a spare driveway.
How much you earn will depend on the location and how popular that area is. But if you live in a prime location such as in a big city, or near a tube or train station, or near a sporting venue, you're likely to do pretty well!
3) Rent out storage space
Again, if you've got it going spare, why not rent it out? You might be surprised at the number of people hunting out some space to store their stuff! So if you've got a spare shed/garage/loft, why not advertise it on Spareground and see whether you get any takers?
4) Rent out your garden
If your garden is of no use to you, it might be of use to someone else. Once again check out the website Spareground to see whether there's any interest. Perhaps someone could use your garden to grow their own fruit and veg?
5) Swap your home!
Not strictly renting and you won't earn money but you're certainly save it. If you're hoping to go away on holiday and can't afford to splurge on pricey accommodation, why not swap your home for someone else's? So you'll be renting out their home (for free), while they are renting out yours (for free)! This can be a great way to save money on your holiday!
Good websites to check out include UKHolidaySwapShop, Intervac, Homelink, Homebase Holidays, and Geenee. Read Property swap shop to find out more.
6) Everything else!
Finally, if you don't have any spare space to rent out, why not simply rent out the stuff you no longer need? Rentnotbuy allows you to rent out pretty much anything - from handbags, to kitchen gadgets, to boats!
So what are you waiting for, get renting!
