If you ever shop online, you’re missing out on a great way to earn money back if you don’t use a cashback website.

If you ever shop online, you're missing out on a great way to earn money back if you don't use a cashback website.

Cashback websites literally do what they say on the tin - they give you cash back every time you spend. But while many of us would never consider shopping without one, not everyone has developed a taste for cashback websites as yet.

So if you're not sure exactly what a cashback website is, or how cashback websites work, here's what you need to know.

Using cashback websites is easy. All you have to do is register and then use your chosen website as a gateway to all your online shopping. Every time you want to buy something from a retailer, you simply do so through the particular site you've signed up to. Your purchases are then tracked, earning you a percentage of your purchase back in points or pounds. This is then paid back to you as cash, or in vouchers. It really is that simple!

Good websites to check out include Quidco, TopCashBack, Rpoints and GreasyPalm. All of these operate under the same principle but membership details can vary, as can the amount of cashback each one offers. In fact, Quidco generally offers the most competitive deals.

That said, Quidco also charges a £5 annual admin fee, which it claims by keeping the first £5 cashback earned as an annual subscription fee. TopCashBack, Rpoints, and GreasyPalm, on the other hand, are all free to join.

Some websites also reward you for referring a friend - GreasyPalm, for example, pays £7 per referred friend. And some will give you a reward just for joining up - Rpoints offers a £5 bonus. But while these deals are tempting, it's worth noting that both GreasyPalm and Rpoints require you to earn £25 before you can make any withdrawals. As with all financial things, it's well worth shopping around before deciding which one to go for.

So if you do regularly spend online, don't delay - get signed up to a cashback website today and start earning money back!

I had a look on Quido. 1% cashback? Not much from Asda. Spend 100 pounds to get one back. Not much of an incentive is it?

That is but just one of the few cashback deals available through Quidco. Recently I took out home contents insurance with AA (cost ~ £80) and earned £38 in cashback. So, really the insurance only cost me £37 (80 - 38 - 5(quidco fee)).
