Since I've started this blog I've been discovering more and more fabulous money-saving websites. And this blog post is all about one of my favourites - Nigel's Eco Store.

Although this isn't your usual money-saving website, what I love about it is that everything on it is environmentally friendly. Many of its products help you to save energy and therefore money!

My favourite item has to be this energy saving eco kettle which currently has 25% off at £29.99. The problem with your bog-standard kettle is that every time you fill it, you're likely to be pouring in twice the amount of water you actually need. With a 3kW kettle, that can mean wasting the energy of approximately 50 light bulbs!

But no more! This kettle contains a unique double chamber that helps you to measure exactly how much water you need to boil. This means you can save electricity, water, time and... money! I think it's a fabulous invention!

This snazzy two-slice toaster also uses 34% less energy than other toasters due to its auto-close lid - this keeps in the heat and prevents it escaping through the top. Brilliant!

Other groovy gadgets include this one-click power panel. You can plug your desktop computer or laptop into the master socket, and your peripheral devices (printer, scanner, etc) into the other sockets. So when you turn on/off your computer, this handy device detects it and turns everything else on/off. Clever stuff, huh?

Although it's not cheap at £39.99, I think it's a good investment. In fact, the website reckons the device can pay for itself in less than a year of use. After all, electrical equipment left on standby wastes a whopping £740 million of energy a year. And the average household could save around £200 a year by taking energy efficiency measures.

There are also loads of water saving gadgets such as the Hippo the Water Saver. This slips into your toilet cistern and can save up to three litres of water every time you flush the toilet. And that means you can save around £20 a year (if your water is metered). And the best bit is, it only costs £1.99 (plus delivery).

So by purchasing some of these devices, not only will they help you to save money, but you'll also be doing your bit for the environment! Hurrah!

These are great ideas Rachel, espeically the toaster with a lid that closes - so simple!

On a slightly random note, I always wondered if anyone had invented a way of collecting the energy generated by people using excercise bikes! I reckon that there's a fair bit of energy created this way and it would be good if it was able to be captured in some form....

Great idea bellini. Perhaps if no one has yet invented a way, we should - and then we can make our millions!
