Frugal furniture

If your house is in need of a makeover, head to designer furniture store Made.com. You can save up to 60% compared to high street prices!

Don’t miss out on the summer sale at Laura Ashley too, with up to 50% off home furnishings and furniture, as well as 30% off curtains and blinds. There’s also a sale on at Cotterell-lightcentres.co.uk, saving you up to 60% on lighting and accessories. Some of the items here are pricey but with a bit of hunting around there are some good offers such as this pretty celing lamp shade for £15, down from £26 and this impressive floor light has over £50 off at £95.

If you’re doing a spot of tiling, MosaicTileShop.co.uk is offering £10 off orders over £100 with the code MDIS10.

Finally, there’s a big summer sale online at Sainsbury’s which is perfect for doing up your home on a budget. It’s particularly good for the little bits and pieces such as this retro style alarm clock, reduced to just £3 and this wall art set of 3 with £10 off at £29.99.

Here are some of the best book deals this week:   

• Amazon has reduced the price of all the Man Booker Prize nominees including Rose Tremain’s Trespass, reduced from £17.99 to £9.18 and The Slap by Christos Tsiolkas, reduced from £12.99 to £6.99.
• If you want the latest historical thriller from Robert Harris, Lustrum, it’s only £3.98 at The Book Depository, saving you 50%. And if you haven’t yet read it, you can save 31% on his breakthrough novel Fatherland, now £5.48.
• If it’s non-fiction you’re after, Stewart Lee’s How I Escaped my Certain Fate is £7.95 at Zavvi and Andre Agassi’s autobiography Open is just £4.86 at Asda.

• New number 1 Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty has fallen from £44.99 to £32.99 at GameGears and the ridiculously addictive Buzz Junior Jungle Party is just £4.50.
