Highlights today include a Christmas treats hamper for £45, 50% off dresses, Charlie Blue eau de toilette for £4,99, half price beauty sets at Boots, and great deals on spa days.

Welcome to the first of this week’s frugal bargain updates - rounding up the hottest deals and biggest discounts in the New Year sales.

Today, we’re hunting down bargains for women. Remember that these deals are often gone within 24 hours, so you’ll need to pounce quickly!

1. If you can cope with yet more chocolate post-Christmas, there are some great deals on offer at Thorntons.

For example, this huge Christmas Treats hamper is reduced from £90 to £45; and this Continental Winter Collection is better-than-half-price, down from £10.99 to £4.99.

2. If you want to grab a smart dress in the sales, check out the deals at Debenhams: Many dresses from big-name brands like Coast have been reduced by more than 50%.

One of my favourites is this red Bandeau dress from Coast, down from £145 to £69.

3. Alternatively, take a look at the dresses on sale at John Lewis.

There are some sizeable discounts here too, like the one on this Kaliko Empire shift dress. It was originally priced at £109, but it’s now right down to £32.70.

4. To bag some shoes to match, visit Office, where there are currently some huge discounts.

For example, these pewter leather heels are down from £85 to £20, while these black heeled lace-ups are down from £73 to £20.

5. There are still some excellent offers for woman on the Daily Deals section of eBay.

The latest offer is on this Vintage Boutique spotted mac. The usual price is £45, but you can currently pick one up for £14.99, including free delivery.

6. If it’s fragrance you’re after, have a poke around in the Fragrance Direct clearance section, where there’s 70-80% off several big name brands.

You can buy 100ml of this Charlie Blue for £4.99 (down from £19.95), or 125ml of Elizabeth Arden Fifth Avenue for £11.75 (reduced from £48).

7. Meanwhile, competitor Cheap Smells has some great offers on high-spec skincare products.

For example, this Clinique Super Rescue Antioxidant Night Moisturiser (50ml) is now £9.95, down from £31. And this Olay anti-wrinkle fluid is down from £11.99 to just £3.99.

8. You can snap up various beauty gift sets at Boots at half their normal price.

A good example is this Gorgeous by Gok Limited Edition Deluxe Collection. It’s comprised of body wash, shower scrub, bath essence, body oil, body butter and an organza puff; and is down from £45 to £22.

9. There are also some great deals on skin products at the Body Shop. Several varieties of body butter are now more than 50% off, like this almond body butter and this raspberry variety.

10. Finally, if you’re in need of a detox and relaxation session after all that festive revelling, take a look at the latest spa deals on lastminute.com.

There’s a better-than-half-price deal on a spa day at Bannatyne Spas (nationwide): For £45, you’ll get a Lava shell back, neck and shoulder massage, a Lava shell mini tummy treatment, an Elemis skin booster facial, and full use of the gym, pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and class facilties for the day.
