Top energy tariffs to keep your bills down over summer
We may be enjoying warmer weather, but you should still keep an eye on your energy bills...
Just because we’re spending less on our heating now doesn’t necessarily mean our energy bills will drop this summer. Suppliers are already thinking about next winter, with Centrica warning that wholesale prices are up 25% on last year.
With EDF, British Gas, Ovo and First:Utility among the suppliers with the over 20 tariffs that have either expired or been withdrawn for existing customers in the last month alone, it’s essential that you check your bill to make sure you’re not one of the thousands affected.
The vast majority of customers have been flipped onto expensive standard tariffs with no discounts. This means that if you were enjoying a cheap fixed rate over the last year, you could now see your bills soar this summer by up to £100 a quarter!
Cheap deals are going fast as price rises loom ever nearer, so grab one while you can. And if you want the peace of mind of no increase next winter, there are still four fixed tariffs in our top ten.
