How many accounts do you have?

Do you have loads of savings accounts and credit cards?

We’ve been talking a lot in recent months about our online banking service at lovemoney.com. We’re very proud of it as it means you can monitor all your bank accounts and credit cards in one place.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the service and what it offers, and that got me wondering. How many accounts and cards do most people have? Are you someone who has stuck with the same current account since you were 18 and never changed?

I confess I’ve been very lazy with my current account and have stuck with the same bank since 1986. But I’ve been much more proactive with my savings accounts and credit cards. I’ve done plenty of switching to make sure I’ve got the best deal and I’ve often – but not always – shut down my ‘old’ card or savings account when I’ve moved.

So have you been a credit card rate tart, switching to a new card every year or so? And if you did that, did you keep your old cards?

Same with savings accounts? Do you just have one account? Or loads?

I’d be interested to hear your stories. Please let me know in the comments section below this blog...

I have been better at looking for a good deal from my current account, but I have stuck with First Direct for a while. I have had good customer service from them, so it feels easy to stick with them. the account has often been in the top five list as well.

As for savings, this year I have been paying extra into my mortgage rather than build up savings in a time of low returns.

Not been so proactive with savings accounts. Like jpgburgess I need a reshuffle.

I do find that end of the financial year is a great way to keep track of all the different ones!
