#27 Don't forget to make a will
It may not be the cheeriest financial rule, but it's certainly one of the most important.
Today's piece of 'what not to do with money' advice is all about planning for the future.
#27 Don't forget to make a will
Thinking about your own demise may not be the most comforting of topics. But writing a will is the one, and only, way to make sure your estate will be handled in the way you want it to be after you're gone.
Fortunately, making a will doesn't have to be the long, expensive and drawn out process you might think. For one thing, if your financial affairs are uncomplicated, you can use one of the many online will writing services to get the task done quickly and cheaply.
That said, if your finances are a bit more complicated, it's a very good idea to seek legal help from a solicitor.
But whichever route you take, remember this: your will guarantees that your estate will be divided among your chosen beneficiaries in accordance with your wishes. And, crucially, it will also allow you to appoint guardians for your children.
Now ask yourself this question: if you don't have a will, do you really trust the courts to make these all-important decisions for you?
Thought not. That's why it's vital you write your will today.
