My Vic Reeves moment

How I ended up interviewing Vic Reeves.

It's fun making videos for lovemoney.com. I especially doing 'vox pops.' This is when a couple of people go out from the office and find out what the general public are thinking about a financial topic. Then we stick the best comments in a video.

So a couple of weeks ago I was working on a video called 'How to...save when you've got no cash'. Producer Tom and I decided to go out and see if we could get some money-saving tips from shoppers on Oxford Street and nearby.

Trouble was, few people wanted to talk to me. I was getting knocked back again and again and again.

So I knew I had to 'go for it.' I saw a guy in the distance and I told myself that, come what may, this guy was definitely going to speak to me. I was going to be assertive and massively self-confident. I wasn't going to take 'no' for an answer.

So I went after him. I stuck a microphone in his face, I started my question, and I looked up. It was Vic Reeves! Result!

Anyway, I kept going. I asked my questions and Vic very politely answered them. He was a gent. If you want to see what he said, check out the video. His comments made me laugh.

But the thing that makes me really smile about all of this is that I would never have gone after the 'man in the distance' if I had realised it was Vic Reeves. I'd have been too shy. It's very fortunate that I had already started my question before I realised who I was talking to.

And in the unlikely event that Vic Reeves ends up reading this, thanks for chatting!
